Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Just joined the group. Thanks for approving me. Big EC fan and loving the new album. Very impressed to see such an impressive album so deep into a career. For me, the new album is up there with his best albums (the first five albums, Imperial, Painted, etc.). Wondering if others see the new album a...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

"'I Let the Sun Go Down.' Everything about it, from the restrained, poignant vocal," a vocal similar to 'the puppet has cut his strings, i think. great falsetto as well. . Musically it reminds me of You Tripped At Every Step. The character portrayed feels like a composite of Britain’s two...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Nowhere near enough guitar to be TYM2. This Year's Re-model, perhaps, given much of the subject matter and how EC takes the female role rather than merely the viewpoint.

I'm over-analysing, aren't I.....?

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Not everyone had a bad Amazon experience. My copy turned up right on time Friday as promised. First impressions? More Painted From Memory than Imperial Bedroom, but thankfully not exactly like either (they are two of my favourites, but we never want same again from our man, do we?). At times, it fee...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Galway, Ireland, July 15 2016

As a driver, I find Dublin-Galway far more convenient than Knock or Shannon, due to a combination of flight frequency, traffic consistency (3 hours to/from Dublin is 3 hours to/from Dublin; 90 minutes to/from Knock is 90-180 minutes to/from Knock) and the Tullamore Dew Distillery in Offaly....

Any place good enough to site (some of) Dusty Springfield's ashes is good enough for me to watch EC, so I'm very much in for this...

Re: Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack album, Oct 2015

What I'd like to see is a companion Soundtrack, of tracks referenced as influences, inspirations, irreplaceable cornerstones. Preferably hand-selected by the author himself. I'm only about a quarter of the way through the book so far but would guess such a collection would include such tracks/artis...

Re: UNFAITHFUL MUSIC & DISAPPEARING INK - Oct. 2015

Whilst reading the book I put together a Spotify playlist of most of the songs mentioned in the book. Unfortunately The Beatles and Neil Young are not on Spotify, still 51 plus hours of music to enjoy from the encylopedia of music that is Elvish Costello :) https://open.spotify.com/user/1159787403/...

It would be great to see this poll carried out on an annual basis.

Off the top of my head, my favourite Costellopus not on the list is Strict Time.
