Re: 40 Years Ago

So, 40 years ago today I attended my first Elvis Costello gig at the Roundhouse in London. A scene setting is probably overkill but I still feel excited about it and this nostalgia is a bit precious to me ! I was brought up in a village in West Devon in a most rural setting and had a sheltered happy...

Re: Random Roles , Dec. 2017 - in depth, lengthy interview about Elvis's film acting career

EC said She had lived a whole double fantasy life and told people that she’d represented me. She’d put people on hold to talk to me, and she’d never met me. I had found out about it years before, and the person… It was about as close to a stalking thing as I’ve ever had to experience, thankfu...

A tour with Steve and orchestra would also give Elvis the chance to play more from A Face In The Crowd in the arrangement he's probably got in his head !

Re: Elvis when you least expect it

I’ve twice dreamt that I was playing bass in The Attractions, once at a garden party in aid of a church and I’ve been so desperate not to make s mistake. I’ve akso dreamt I was playing bass for LED Zeppelin , a band I could never get into on Plymouth Hoe and Robert Plant moaning at me because I didn...

Re: Reissue catalogue in a mess?

Oh Jack, that's so poignant and accurate - we can dream of recapturing our past but the excitement and amazement I felt with Get Happy can never be achieved by any other musician, let alone bb Elvis, and I now can acknowledge "there'll never be days like that again !"

Re: Elvis song taught at 'O'-level?

I heard this at Exeter in 1981 when The Attractions played this at break-neck speed and Elvis garbled everything except the incredible bridge -(one of my favourite topics, Elvis' amazing bridges in songs - don't get me started !) It seemed like Elvis called either Secondary Modern or Motel Matches a...

DeathWearsA Big Hat wrote Weller's solo stuff doesn't do much for me but I was a huge Style Council fan. So you were the one !! I know Weller faced tremendous media backlash for breaking up The Jam and I personally never felt like The Style Council matched the Jam on so many levels but it seemed som...
