Re: Buy Elvis' bed,,Nov. 2006

I got the picture of the bed blown up but on inspection I could only count four skin cells --boom boom , tish ( I thank you !!) copyright Bernard Manning circa 1971 !!

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

I'm just hoping VG, Mrs. Sulky and one of my offspring haven't all decided to buy me one for my big birthday in October ( or has VG got a couple for Mini VG1) ?

Re: 'Under Lime' piano accidentally quiet?

MicLewis wrote P.S. I love Davey’s very Bruce-like bass playing as well. Couldn't agree more ! I think Davey's ability on bass has blossomed and flourished immensely in the last couple of years, the U.K. shows were fantastic for his playing and the Cardiff show particularly shone with very muscular ...

Re: 'Under Lime' piano accidentally quiet?

So we've got Neil not hearing the piano and VG mis-hearing the lyrics - methinks too many concerts at the very front getting hearing impairment for these gentlemen!! Incidentally, I think Elvis did a very passable Bowie impersonation on "It's Time" from ATUB didn't he ?? I shall res...

Re: Footage of Flip City, featuring Elvis, in London in 1974

If you look closely, several members of the forum appear to be in the crowd, - i can definitely see So LackLustre and Man Out Of Time in earlier incarnations and maybe a pre-pubescent JF as well
The only doubt is - did Neil have long hair in 1974 though ??!!!

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Neil wrote 'Under Lime' - suitably cheery title from our Elv. I guess all he's been through it was hardly going to be Club Tropicana - I'm just glad there's the will power and the drive to get material out and the "old" new songs are so exciting to know we'll finally hear them finally hear...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Neil wrote Well, it's his bluntest, least-'flowing' album title. But the song titles are exciting - and how about the decades-later re-emergence of the Carol King song, and Unwanted Number?!!! What more so than "Spike" ?! I hope it's better than that album ( sorry Mr getgood ) I love the g...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

The best birthday present would be a full scale UK tour imminently after the release - but I'll settle for the vinyl with 4 bonus tracks making 16 spread over 4 sides (4 x 4- geddit !!)

Teen Angst ?!!! - come on BA, you're kidding me that you can remember TEEN ANGST ? I love it when bands you have affections for suddenly remind you of how much they have actually been part of your musical heritage . So glad you had a good time ! I saw Cheap Trick for the first time In Wolverh...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Newcastle upon Tyne, June 25, 2018

Posted my recording of this show on a certain torrent site and received a cryptic comment from Toasttoast - anyone any idea if this is Chris keeping an eye on the 40 year anniversary uploads and any other EC live material that may be in circulation ?

Re: Elvis and The Imposters plays Manchester Castlefields, July 6 2018

My refund went through yesterday which is better than I expected and more significantly, much quicker than my refund for the Plymouth Pavilions show (which still hasn't appeared) - and to cap it all, I expect Mrs Sulky will now expect me to show her an equally good time doing something other than se...

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

Reassuring to know that even though I'll never be a good enough bassist to replace Bruce or Davey, I probably could cut it in the Arctic Monkeys, judging by that performance

That follows about Jake - didn't Bruce mention in one of his tomes that Jake kept back the "prime" promotional items as his security for a rainy day ?
Now if only Jake had kept back some of the rare live recordings !

Re: Girls Talk - live

I've seen him do it a few times in Cardiff and Swansea- I think and he's often dedicated it to Dave Edmunds - it's always been a bit faster than the B-side but maybe not quite as fast as the Dave version - this probably doesn't help much does it ? First performed on the Wake Up Canada tour of Novemb...

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

Sorry TB, you're absolutely right and even "educated guesses" such as my own are in the end mere speculation- but all I truly want is the reassurance that Elvis knows he's in our thoughts and prayers and that we only want him fit and well as soon as is physically and clinically possible !

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

Thanks Doc, so much for spellcheck -!! as someone who measures one marker PSA hundreds of times a day , I’m painfully aware of the prevalence of this disease and the need for truly early diagnosis and treatment . Great summary and important to get a clinical view here !
