Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Cardiff, June 17th 2018

Setlist should read PIU instead of the first PLU. Elvis finally got a standing ovation at then end of PLu and launched into WFTEOTW and LTZ and then I Want you spontaneously - or so it seemed. Magnificent venue, sound completely different to Nottingham. I missed first three songs due to an accident ...

Re: Elvis and The Imposters, Nottingham (England), June 15, 2018

OK, the jinx is going strong ! I drove from Plymouth to Birmingham and picked up Sulky Lad Junior who was tied up slightly with his thesis and I began to get the panics about leaving for Nottingham in time. We had to cross Birmingham in the rush hour but arrived with ages to spare. had to get someth...

Re: 'Elvis and The Imposters , U.S. tour 2018'

I've always promised myself a U.S. tour when I retire, just hope I do before Elvis. Problem is, my first plan for the Texas Sugarcanes fell though and now I don't know whether to do an East Coast or West coast - I know I'll HAVE to do NY just to meet the revered Apostles !

Finish work in Devon at 4 pm and then off up the M5 and M4 - whoopee. I'd still rather see him at St. David's Hall, many fond memories of great gigs there.

Re: New Elvis/Burt Bacharach songs!!

Hey Neil, don't you think the Imposters might be a bit too "rocky" for PFM V2 - I'd rather have Burt's orchestrations and Steve's piano in this instance and the new Imposters album being like Momofuku ! And yes, you're right about Lovable - I hadn't absorbed those lyrics like I probably sh...

Hawksmoor wrote I think this is a lovely interview, and makes me like Elvis (as a person) more than I have for a long time. I've always believed (and still do) that he is the single greatest performer/singer-songwriter of our generation, but everything I had seen, heard or read, for decades now real...

Nottingham 15 June 2018

My son has decided he wanted to join me for this Nottingham concert ( on a Friday night) so I've had to get 2 tickets together and my solo seat is now available, row K, cost price no booking fees etc ! Also, if anyone has a spare ticket for Newcastle which isn't going to strain my eyesight beyond re...

Re: Banal fanboy list no 475: Elvis songs that sound a bit like other Elvis songs

Doc wrote The intro to Waiting For The End of The World and the intro to Big Tears have a very similar structure. In a good way, of course. Before the Roundhouse gig in 2016 a few of us forum members were predicting what the first song would be - I boldly stated it would be WFTEOW and when the band ...

Re: Elvis and The Imposters, Nocturne Live - Oxfordshire (UK), June 16, 2018

Whilst the "two for one" doesn't bode well in terms of overall sales, at least it suggests Elvis will have recovered enough to perform at all the other shows. By the way, anyone got a decent Newcastle ticket -I may be forced to go to the balcony with my lapels looking at current seating av...

Re: It's official..."brilliant new album"

The reassuring comment for me is that Elvis says he wants it as an EC and The Imposters album which hopefully means he won't be using any of the "musical" songs on this !!
