Re: Reissue catalogue in a mess?

Oh Jack, that's so poignant and accurate - we can dream of recapturing our past but the excitement and amazement I felt with Get Happy can never be achieved by any other musician, let alone bb Elvis, and I now can acknowledge "there'll never be days like that again !"

Re: Elvis song taught at 'O'-level?

I heard this at Exeter in 1981 when The Attractions played this at break-neck speed and Elvis garbled everything except the incredible bridge -(one of my favourite topics, Elvis' amazing bridges in songs - don't get me started !) It seemed like Elvis called either Secondary Modern or Motel Matches a...

Re: The Style Council and Elvis sing My Ever Changing Moods

DeathWearsA Big Hat wrote Weller's solo stuff doesn't do much for me but I was a huge Style Council fan. So you were the one !! I know Weller faced tremendous media backlash for breaking up The Jam and I personally never felt like The Style Council matched the Jam on so many levels but it seemed som...

Put it down to envy about the lack of IB shows over here - I still agree with VG though .

Not a brand new act but maybe some of the songs he'd resurrected for the IB and Other Chambers tour or even some of the Face In The Crowd songs done with Larkin Poe ? Didn't seem like too much to ask for a little variation from the Detour gigs that have been running for two + years!

The show has only ever been released on vinyl as either "Accidents" or the Toasted release called "Elvis Costello"

I think I might as well start this topic as I will be encouraging all well known posters on this site to keep on uploading their live recordings from this period. Just a quick query as we approach October 21st. The recording that I'm aware of at this time is from Salford University as advertised in ...

Oh Neil, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Luxembourg ! I just remember Elvis saying that when he sang it solo in 1984 he made a joke about some people thinking the album version didn't have any proper words in it because the audiences could finally hear the lyrics. On a serious note, wasn't it somet...

For those with the vaguest of interest in the "Star Wars Saga" , I can confirm that the last forum meetup at the Roundhouse gig in London did indeed provide more than a passing resemblance to the "Cantina Scene" in SW4 A New Hope, featuring Verbal as Hans Solo !

Thanks, Dave - I wonder where the info comes from sometimes for the setlists for the wiki. I'm not doubting the integrity of those who submit them but I thought I was in touch with all the major collectors of live material and then these variations crop up !
Does Martin have any info on this, John ?
