Re: Help us help Elvis on his forthcoming Fall tour...

If this tour is going to be "Trust" based then maybe next year we could have a sort of countryish feel with some "Almost Blue" and "Delivery Man" tracks and these mentioned above would fit in fine with that sort of idiom. Not quite Sugarcanes but in that whole Americana ...

Phil only came in on an encore of Mystery Dance
at the Roundhouse in April 1978 but recordings have apparently been widely circulated recently as part of the 40 year anniversary of live Elvis performances posted by some nerdy OCD member is this forum

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

I think the 1980 tour of the Uk is probably the least well documented of all his UK tours and it's fantastic that we've got at least four people who have witnessed that tour, Goon Squad at Canvey Island , CTB at Southport, Hawksmoor at Colwyn Bay and Offshoreram at Peterborough - in 6 months time yo...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

A trip around the seaside resorts of Britain in February doesn’t sound that enchanting to me but as I live in the south west with coast all around, I’ll take any that come my way. Just a pity that the Cornwall Coliseum was demolished a few years ago .

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

I knew it - the UK tour is going to mimic the Get Happy! Tour of 1980 and do all the out of the way places, Yeovil, Fishguard, Hastings , Bere Alston ( my Home village ) and even more obscurely Goodison and Orpington

Re: My Darling Clementine working with Steve Nieve on an album of EC covers , 2019?

The show was very low key and somewhat experimental, through the Steve songs were perfectly acceptable and well worth laying down in the studio. For me the Talk Talk songs were i) unfamiliar and ii) generally less well written and I didn't come away thinking I'd have to familiarise myself with the m...

I’m having trouble with the flash card from my recording so can’t do a comprehensive set list and I’m not sites how to generate a digital recording from it though it does still play ok on the recorder. There were a smattering of Talk Talk songs which really didn’t have the strength of the Costello s...

Re: Elvis Costello & The Imposters: Purse EP (Record Store Day)

Poor deportee wrote I just want to say that the Imposters sound utterly sublime on 'The Lovers that Never Were' in particular. You hear this and you kind of have to wonder why he doesn't do more recording with this group; they've got a depth and maturity now that deserves more than a once-per-decade...
