Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Memphis, TN, Orpheum Theatre , Nov. 19th 2018

This issue with sound has been rumbling ( see what i did there  ) on for years - at Nottingham in June I said that the first half was spoiled by too much bass and drums to Pete after the show and he joked "What's wrong with that!" but there have been instances throughout the tours wi...

Re: Bright Blue Times, not the song but the fan magazine

Conor's being very modest here - his site was a definite "goto" for intelligent observation and discerning criticism of all thing Elvis and made a refreshing change from some sycophantic other sites in the late 90s and early 00s. he also had a sly turn of phrase which made you think again ...

Neil wrote Yep, and if Elvis does read this - thank you for all your wonderful songs, and please don't give up on the PFM show! It sounds like a moody classic. Places like The Crucible, Sheffield or the Chichester Festival Theatre (artistic director Daniel Evans who often supports new musicals) migh...

Re: Punch The Clock in Sweden

Always loved the bass to this, one I could do a reasonable facsimile of  Caught it first ( physically and on tape) at St. Austell in 1984 and then at Liverpool and Blackpool in 2013. Always beena favourite - my head is spinning round faster and faster - lovely line with Steve's piano following...

Neil wrote Apols if this has already been posted, but I'm drunk. - no comment  I remember getting this on a VHS compilation and being stunned by the muscular bass sound Bruce seemed to be getting from his bass- the mix on my VHS must have been doctored as it was never like this in real life pe...

Always hard as one's parents age and decline, thinking of Lilian and Elvis and prayers offered up for her return to good health.

Pat Thomas is the brother of Bren who, together with the legendary Irish folk singer Padraig McElvey, formed a sort of folkrock/punk trio in Sligo in the late 80s. They were never either good or famous !

Re: Bruce Thomas, public interview, LONDON: Dublin Castle WED 3RD OCT, 2018

It turned out to be a really exceptional evening with Bruce ! I arrived in Camden and bagged the only parking space in the entire city of London by forcing a little Hispanic lady off the road and then made my way to the Dublin Castle - which was a real "spit and sawdust" rock'n'roll venue ...

I have been known to do a VERY ropey Charles Aznavour impersonation with cod English accent and awful vibrato and I bellowed along in (mock) tribute to She on the news and my youngest daughter said it sounded more like Elvis than Charles !

I'll be there if I can wangle time off work - and that's looking increasingly unlikely :(
Likewise, Bruce is the only Attraction that I've not met in person - though I feel I've championed his playing on this forum to excess !!

Re: Elvis's funniest line or song

On leaving my previous job, my li(n)e manager thought that line was a good quote for my departure - I didn't find it that funny.
"The long arm of the law slides up the outskirts of town, meanwhile in Clubland, they are ready to pull them down " always brings a smile to my face !
