Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

PS Mettoy was founded in Northampton but is now based in Swansea - it's only made it more confusing !

PPS, David McCallum was born in Glasgow ( bingo and all praise to Wikipedia (sic))

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

I thought I knew a song from my dim and distant childhood called "I Belong To Glasgae" (the spelling meant to represent a cod- Scots accent as per BBC speak) but I couldn't find a reference anywhere on t'internet. Don't know where this ties into the Men From Uncle ( unless Elvis plans to p...

Fantastic, well researched and pertinent review from Variety - which makes a real change to the "His Aim Is Still True" re-visits we have seen so often - well done and thanks, Chris !

Great, Rope Leash, really sorry you couldn't make Blondie/EC- I hope other opportunities come your way - but this is another mind blowing statement and much more to think about. It's a bit weird to turn Sixty and realize that most of your teenage suspicions have proven to be true. And even weirder t...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

With reference to walk softly, I thought about Tread Softly instead - there is a film from 1952 about a murder in a derelict theatre starring Frances Day which has a pretty awful review on line and also the line appears in a poem by W.B. Yeates (The Cloths Of Heaven) who we all know is a favourite o...

Re: London meet up - Saturday 27th July

Neil was nearly a no-show too - keeping us hanging on for a dramatic last minute entrance, no doubt. Perhaps Bruce was worried he'd have to keep us all in alcohol - though I thought most people were restrained. Like others have said, there was less Costello chat and more social interchanges but it w...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

Weren't Jaguar cars built at Coventry as well ? That would tie in with the 1980 tour when they performed at Leamington Spa (only 11.6 miles away from Coventry.) I think you've missed the whole point here, the registration 709 UXU actually mean Pete Thomas was accidentally fired into space on a trip ...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

I've seen Elvis 6 times at Nottingham over the years ( from 1996 onwards) and the strangest concert was the John Harle show when the audience was composed almost entirely of jazz fans who wanted to hear John Harle's sax playing. There were huge murmurs of discontent at the half time interval followi...

Re: Help us help Elvis on his forthcoming Fall tour...

If this tour is going to be "Trust" based then maybe next year we could have a sort of countryish feel with some "Almost Blue" and "Delivery Man" tracks and these mentioned above would fit in fine with that sort of idiom. Not quite Sugarcanes but in that whole Americana ...
