Re: Elvis's funniest line or song

Agreed, Colin, it's a right knees-up of a song. I don't think he does it any more, live.

Elvis's funniest line or song

I woke up this morning, scratched my head and saw a little dandruff. Which of course made me think of 'This early morning dandruff turns out to be confetti', which I think is one of Elvis's funniest lines. 'Daddy went out with the rubbish and he kept on walking' is also one of my faves - the World a...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

No idea what it was like for Elvis but I believe it's a bit of a tradition in album-releasing circles. Was reading the autobiog of Andrew Lloyd Webber and he described the agonies of doing the whole 'play the album in front of the critics in a theatre' shennanigans.

Elvis's appearance on BBC Breakfast will appear on this page soon: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bjcdsg.

A brief but effective appearance, and of course they concentrated on the cancer op. He made an amusing swipe at a certain newspaper!

Thanks for letting us know! Here's the show:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bjcdqt/the-one-show-12092018

It's the usual crazy mix of weird 'human interest' stories and showbiz promotion. So odd to watch Elvis listening having to sit through a list of meningitis symptoms!

Re: Elvis on compilations

Hawksmoor, that sounds about right. But I think I read that Adele and Ed Sheeran shift copious amounts of CDs too. So are these CDs bought by the over-50s in category C who buy them for their nieces and nephews? (I guess I can't expect you to know everything!)

Re: Elvis on compilations

In the new world of streaming and digital downloads, does anyone actually buy these things anymore? I guess they must do, otherwise record companies wouldn't put them out.

But I can't imagine who those people are.

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Thanks for the juicy opinion piece, Hawksmoor - great stuff. Also, re the lyrical depth, I couldn't help thinking about 'Newcastle Under Lyme' - but obvs that's spelt differently. And I agree, it's really difficult not to think of Elvis himself in the opening lines - all that stuff 'tryna make a com...

Yes, there's a sequel to 'American Without Tears', called 'American Without Tears (Twilight Version)'. It's got the same melody, but a very different arrangement and lyrics.

Re: 'Under Lime' piano accidentally quiet?

All the sudden, E has many assistant producers here ACTUALLY thinking they shall remix the track before official release. Ha ha - well, I've had my say. Despite the one misgiving, I think it's a fabulously weird and wonderful piece that you can't really classify in any of the traditional cat...
