Chuckle - I'm sure we'd sound great doing finger clicks and backing for 'In the Darkest Place': "Try ta find ano-ther lo-ver...!" with our voices of angels.

Re: 'He's Given Me Things'

Yep, and if Elvis does read this - thank you for all your wonderful songs, and please don't give up on the PFM show! It sounds like a moody classic. Places like The Crucible, Sheffield or the Chichester Festival Theatre (artistic director Daniel Evans who often supports new musicals) might take it, ...

Re: Dishonor the Stars?

I'd welcome the insight of someone more perceptive than myself. Instead of that, you get me! I have a soft spot for this one - I love the intro and the verse has this great, slightly menacing swagger to it. I don't understand how the sky can dishonour the stars either, or what that means. But I thi...

Punch The Clock in Sweden

Apols if this has already been posted, but I'm drunk. Elvis looking rather forlorn and fetching in 'Shipbuilding'. 'Invisible Man' is a torrent of fabulous lyrics which might be the reason why he doesn't get more covers - really hard to memorise those words for live gigs!! https://youtu.be/0R4rsFug9...

Re: 'He's Given Me Things'

Fab review, thanks! This song is growing on me, defo. I agree it's a fabulous portrait of someone who's made a pragmatic decision and gone with her head, not her heart, but genuinely believes she's done the right thing and has slammed the door on her previous lover for good. Such a great lyric, and ...

Hmmm interesting. As this was 25 June 2015, that puts paid to the idea that it's about David Cameron and Brexit. Unless our Elv was being prescient.

Thinking about it, I kinda hope that's not true - we really don't want the songwriting credits to read "Cameron/Costello"!!!!

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Poor Deportee - I don't dislike 'Adieu Paris' as a song, I just find Elvis's French accent distracts from it. He rolls the Rs with his tongue, but the French don't do that, they make a vibration in the back of their mouth without using their tongue, a bit like the way Roy Orbison makes the purring c...

Well, I've listened 3 times now and I love it! Stripping Paper - those piano chords! The imagery! Instant classic - I want a woman to record it ASAP! Suspect My Tears - I've already raved about this 70s-sounding love song (The Stylistics, anyone?) with the twisted lyrics. Don't Look Now - totally go...

Aw, bless her. Ross gets a lot of coverage from journalists, but Elvis is quick to point out that his Mum was also a huge influence because of her musical knowledge. Wishing her good health.

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Sounds like we have flipped sentiments now on this track Neil. Ha ha - indeed, Bronx! Second listen, the faster version loses a lot of the lyrics for me, and I really miss the dramatic finale of the "Look at her now - my, how things have changed; my how things have changed" - the vicious ...

Crikey! First listen, 'Burnt Sugar' is a far cry from the haunting, tormented torch ballad feel of the live recording I know. Oh well, will give it some more listens!
