Re: Elvis in Neil Young tribute show, Vancouver 18/19 Feb.'10

Short - but oh so sweet.

Love In Mind has always been one of my favorite NY tracks and I just love how EC made it his own. And Cowgirl looks like it was a blast too.

Thanks for posting the links!

Re: EC jamming with Gregg Allman & Steven Tyler, Nov. 21, 2009

I think my comment came out wrong. While I acknowledged that the whole Bebe / Tyler / Costello love triangle must have made things a bit awkward - what I really meant to bring up as a point of discussion was - I doubt that EC has much respect for a song like "Walk This Way" - hence the vis...

Re: EC jamming with Gregg Allman & Steven Tyler, Nov. 21, 2009

God he looks uncomfortable playing with Tyler.

Didn't he once say that he never understood Zeppelin? I can only imagine what he thinks of Aerosmith.

Then throw in the Bebe thing.

Awkward.

I also feel the need to comment on how refreshing it is to see him with out a suit jacket on. Nice!

Re: Elvis Costello On Magnetmagazine.com

OK - in the interest of us all just getting along - I take back the moron comment. You're right - no need for name calling - my bad. However, there is more to this one than just "everyone is entitled to their own opinion". If that were the case it would just be a list of favorite and least...

Re: Brutal Youth Retrospective

Obviously, everyone's entitled to their opinions - and I couldn't disagree more with you about Clown Strike and My Science Fiction Twin. They are easily two of my faves on the album. I do (kind of) agree about Still Too Soon to Know - not one of my faves. Also - technically - it wasn't billed as an ...

Re: which elvis costello album do you recommend?

i heard it's known to be his worst album, but i don't always agree with the mainstream opinion I stayed away from it for awhile after hearing it was his worst too. It's not really bad at all. The production is a bit heavy handed (the 80's...) - but there are definitely some great songs on there. Ro...

Re: which elvis costello album do you recommend?

Based on the albums you've said that you like - and don't like - I think you should hold off on Get Happy. Don't get me wrong - I adore it. But it's not like Punch The Clock at all (in my opinion). Actually - I can't believe that no one else has mentioned this - but I usually group Goodbye Cruel Wor...

Hey - it looks like you can now get tickets with just a plain old visa (instead of the signature card). I just got 2 through 9:30's website (930.com).

I'm psyched!

The 12th is open at the Baltimore location. Could it be there instead? I'm getting nervous about being able to get tickets for this and / or the DC show at the 9:30. I heard about the Visa presale (which I don't expect to use - don't really need another credit card) - but has anyone heard about any ...

You're right Sabreman - it was awesome. I can't think of one thing that could have been better. I think the setlist was prettty close to what the past few shows have been - but he did say that last night was the first time they pulled out That Day is Done - and of course - they nailed it. It was als...

My wife is sick so I have an extra ticket for tonight's show at the Strathmore. $95 bucks.

Yea - I know. Ouch.

I have a few very silly questions about the show (in general). I'm seeing him in Bethesda next week. Did it start promptly (8:00 pm)? How were people dressed? I've never been to a symphony show of any kind. Do I have to dress up? Were people allowed to still be seated after it started? Was there any...

You know - it took me awhile to get into Button My Lip too - but I love it now. That bass line is just incredible. And I like that it opens everything up on an odd note. It helps usher in what follows. How everthing just shifts with those opening chords of Country Darkness. Although I like ...This T...

After reading thepopeofpop's rundown of the show - I am fully psyched to go.

I never had the intention of blowing it off, I was just worried that I'd be disappointed.

Thanks!

Wow - Again - thank you all for your replies. However, now I think I might have another problem. With the exception of E*C*RIDER's and noiseradio's endorsement, the general consensus seems to be somewhat negative. So now I'm afraid about the show I'm seeing next month. The tickets weren't cheap. And...

Do I need Il Sogno?

Ok - I'm seeing the man next Month in Maryland. I just picked up My Flame Burns Blue with the "Il Sogno" Suite bonus disc. I thought the bonus disc was supposed to be a live version of it, but the liner notes say that it was recorded at Abby Road - and that it's just excerpts. So - keeping...

I didn't really know the song at the time either - but I was really into music in general (Beatles mostly), so I remember wondering what song it was.

I might still have the book in tatters in storage. I'll try to find it and scan the page.

This is kind of wierd. When I was a kid, I had a copy of the DC/Marvel team up of Superman and Spiderman (they fight Luthor and Doc Oc if you must know). I haven't seen it in years, but I have always remembered that at some point in there that Peter Parker (or maybe someone else) sings.... Oliver's ...
