Re: Rolling Stone (Germany) chooses Elvis' eight best albums

Given Elvis's deep and varied catalog, there are a few albums that could've made the cut. I agree with 7 out the 8 choices, but I would swap Look Now or Trust for PTC, and that's just to mention 2 other albums.

I read from a few different sources that Elvis and T Bone were working on a Coward Brothers album but that was last year if I recall correctly. From the sound of it , Licorice, would fit perfectly on a Coward Brothers album.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters with Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets, Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, CA, June 16, 2023

It wasn't my least favorite Elvis show, but to me, it didn't match up with his best either. Some of that feeling I can attribute to the venue, the crowd and on some tunes, Elvis was a little off vocally. It seems like the drunken louts who were there in Ventura followed him to the Greek. Why people ...

A little off topic but would someone please be able to point me in the direction of either the Elvis Burt show from 1998 or the Doberman RAH show, Music for Grown Ups? A Flac download would be great, I know it's a longshot, but I have to ask. Thanks in advance.

Re: The Songs of Bacharach & Costello: 4 album set based on Painted From Memory, March 3, 2023

I'm in agreement with many other members, the pricing on this is a little out of whack. The price for the 2 LP set is $37.99, while the two Cd set is $19.98. The total is $57.97. If you buy the SDE, you'll be paying an additional $122 for 2 CD's and extra packaging. I'm not the brightest guy but eve...

Does this apply to all the Hey Clockface doodads, like the signed cd or the clocks or T-shirts? I pre-ordered this in August. It wasn't like they didn't have enough time. Again, first world problems with everything that's going on.

I emailed Second City Prints on Friday, but have heard nothing. Have they started shipping items yet or does anyone have a secret email customer service...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

I would imagine all of us would love for Elvis to do his own live archive series a la Springsteen, hopefully with better mastering and not nearly as brickwalled. However, he did try that a few years ago with very little success or support. Elvis's market is much smaller than the Boss is, but just as...

Great song, I love it. It would appear that stylistically the album will be all over the place ,which to me is a good thing. Your one stop shop for Elvis.

Re: New song “Hey Clockface / How Can You Face Me’, sept 11, 2020

Definitely agree about Mick Jagger, he still sounds pretty good to these ears. Van Morrison too. I haven't heard any vocal decline and he releases a new album what seems like every 6 months. He's about due for a new album. Sadly, the same can't be said for Sir Paul and his Bobness. But, I'm stating ...

My feeling there is a disconnect between Weller and Elvis. I don't see them as mates. It's just a feeling though. I have no hardened evidence.

I think both releases are good albums. They are both very solid, but neither is great in my opinion. However, they are both far from clunkers.

Re: 40 Years Ago

While I wouldn't call it Bowie's best work or even upper tier Bowie, I certainly wouldn't call it misguided either. I think it's underrated, but most Bowie fans vehemently dislike it. Same for Pin Ups, which I enjoy. Pin Ups is wonderful. Ziggy and the Spiders do the hits of Swinging England. What'...

Re: Look Now wins Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album!

I've lived in Southern California for almost 12 years. The news of Kobe Bryant's death hit us like a nuclear bomb. We are all so deeply saddened for all the lives lost yesterday. I never pay attention to the Grammy's. I've always found them fairly useless. However, I am thrilled to see Elvis & t...

Re: Spike: 30 years ago

I don't remember the last time I played Spike. The album left me cold. I think Elvis was a bit too clever on this release. I understand the Tom Waits comparisons but only Tom Waits can do Tom Waits.
