Re: Bicycles

Love the old Cannondales. I had a that exact 2.8 frameset on a Shimano 105 road-bike that I had for a while. Then I had a Cannondale with Suntour GPX. Loved that road bike too. Just took my old mountain bike for a lunch time spin. Suntour XC Pro rear derailleur and thumb shifters, XC roller-cam rear...

Re: South Bank Show: "The Making Of Almost Blue"

What a thoroughly enjoyable documentary. Can't help but like Billy Sherrill's parts in it. He's clearly not an Elvis fan, and almost kind've wondering why he is even involved in the project, and just his overall cranky demeanor. I love the part where he is being interviewed while driving his boat, &...

Re: Bicycles

Thats one sweet road-bike. And I like the new crankset on the frankenbike. Here is a picture of one of my bikes -- a tandem that I picked up at a swap-meet a couple years ago. Its been a lot of fun, especially when we hook up the Yakima trailer to it and throw the kids in it . . . or the dog. The tr...

Re: Nick Lowe on the BBC

Sar him this past Sunday night in Chicago. Let me just say, that Nick just keeps getting better and better. The Jesus of Cool singing about the baby Jesus . . . . need I say more? Well worth the trip from St. Louis to Chicago. Always the entertainer, engaging, funny, and so damn effortless and smoot...

Anyone else think he seems a little out of place in this?

Nice! Thank you for sharing.

Can't wait to see Nick and his Quality Holiday Revue in Chicago next month. Looks like both shows are almost sold out.

Thanks for the good laugh this morning.

To bad the sound wasn't better for your concert, but seems like you managed to have a good time.

Re: Elvis Costello Solo Carnegie Hall June 24/25

I feel that I should defend "The Last Year of My Youth" from last night. I thought it was a little "catchier" musically than the Letterman version. Plus I can't be sure, but. i think he tightened up the lyrics a little. I definitely had a stronger opinion of the song last night....

Re: Elvis solo, Nashville (TN), June 21, 2014

Great show last night in a fantastic venue. Really liked the Ryman. A few comments: Last Year was acoustic, not electric. Pretty sure I recognized Dr. Spooky and Spooky Girlfriend in the crowd, but too shy to go over and say hi. Why are they not on here anymore? Or BlueChair? Very impressed with Elv...

Hoping for some special guest appearances in Nashville. I check Emmylou though and it looks like she is out of town on her own tour. Maybe Vince Gill and the Time Jumpers?

I agree with most of the posts here. Great lyrics and a stunning performance. This is the essence of Elvis. Everything I admire in him as a songwriter, and especially as a performer . . . is here. There is a passion, a vile, an anger, and a rocking edge. Punk rock without the stupidity, the old rebe...

Re: Recently viewed films

Noah -- what a waste of film! I'm ashamed to admit that I paid money to sit there and endure the whole thing. Easily the worst movie I've seen in the last 20 years. Laughable from beginning to end. Poor Emma Watson -- not her best career move.

Bought tickets for the Nashville show for me and the Mrs.

Come to think of it . . . I think this is my 20th year anniversary of going to Elvis shows. '94 was the Brutal Youth tour, right? Saw that one in Chicago.

Looks like a kids lunchbox to me, and not a handbag. At lunchtime, little Billy tore into his lunch like a "Little Savage" and the bologna and cheese on white clutched firmly in his "Human Hands" was so good it was "Beyond Belief". boooo  Sorry, been a long night ...

Gotta give the Red Sox credit. The better team won. Cards just couldn't come up with timely hitting -- stranded too many runners and didn't play with as much passion as the Sox.

Gonna be hard to win 2 in a row in beantown. Tonights game was pivotal and proved that Big Papi cannot be stopped. Great pitching by Lester.

I always enjoyed "New York" in particular and listen now and again, with much enjoyment, to the hokey VU compliation album I have. (Yes, I really should do the decent thing and buy proper Velvet Undergound albums). A distinctive musical and lyrical voice; and one whose utter intolerance f...

Wow these have been some really tight games, decided by errors or strange things like the obstruction call on Saturday night.

Cards must win tonight or its curtains.

And enough already with these amish beards and greasy hair . . . . giving me nightmares. Tis the season I suppose.
