TRIR running-order ...

I agree with Neil about a) getting used to deliberate musical quirks on track 1 thus moving nicely into next 10 songs finishing with 'All these things' ... b) I still do not get tracks 12 & 13 ... c) the advantage of CD/nice people sharing Japanese-only bonus etc is that one can play tracks fini...

All things considered (!), for me this is the most exciting EC album etc in 20 years.

Freedom for the stallion - Dylan performances ...

Bob Dylan seems to have first started performing this mid-1980s which is when I first came across on Bootlegs this Toussaint song - it has never been officially released, but there are many versions available on e.g. interweb ...

Flag waving

I am all for a bit of reasonable flag-waving (if flag represents good idea, like kind world peace/thinking of other species etc). Unfortunately, most flag-waving of red George cross is probably enacted by brainless bandwagon chavs, rather than by individuals who celebrate April 23rd. My flag shows b...

TRIR DVD

I bought the 32 min DVD version mainly to hear 'What ...' and to convert the 1 min 51 secs depicted (including intro...) to WAV/mp3 (something I did too with the Toussaint 'solo' instr. 41 secs 'Sweet Georgia Brown'. I am happy to have spent c. £7 more in real shop on DVD version than price at play...

TRIR

This is now my favourite Costello album since 1986. First 11 finishing with new version of his 1986 cover of 'All these things' are IMO great soul/blues/boogie etc. I am still not convinced by tracks 12 & 13. The 2 bonus (Japanese CD and UK iTunes) tracks & bit of 'What do YWTGTD' on DVD &am...

TRIR

Although I like most of the standard album despite Costello's variable voice/shortage of Toussaint's vocalisations I particularly like the previously done by Costello ballad 'All these things' & the 2 BONUS Japanese/iTunes tracks 'The greatest love' & 'Where is the love'. IMO Costello etc sh...

iTunes

Ta for tip - until kind person let me hear Japanese-only bonus track TGL I have been checking iTunes daily 'just in case'.

On my computers/browsers the 'Where is the love' does not show on Elvis Costello shop main page until I looked on next page where I saw/bought it - thanks.

TRIR

Oddly enough, my wife likes TRIR, and she hasn't expressed like for any of Mr Costello's albums since 'Almost Blue'! Before I commit myself to about $40+ on amazon.com or ebay.com for Japanese-only release with extra track 14 'The greatest love', is there anyone please who might post e.g. to Yousend...

TRIR-DVD ...

Not surprisingly as yesterday in UK was 'Bank Holiday' my on-line ordered TRIR with DVD didn't arrive, so I cancelled and bought it/them in real shop for £2 more. Apart from probably starting to like quite a bit of CD (not convinced by 2 tracks positioned after stand-out 11th though...) I enjoyed 3...

TRIR

I quite like the 13 tracks now, possibly the more so because Costello's musically trained voice of past few years often sounds 'all over the place' which I prefer. The sound of instrumentation etc IMO bounces beautifully out of loudspeaker-system - I await appearance of Japanese 14th track on Soulse...

... umm - no apologies for being a party-pooper, but having heard basic 13 tracks a few times, I ought to be wise and cancel my order ... In truth, I cannot envisage wishing to play basic 13-track CD/vinyl more than about twice 'for reference' (apart from latest version of 'Blood And Chocolate' 2002...

Henry

Henry IMO is right to 'stay' at A-rse rather than to go to B-Arce or Chels. As we saw, Henry has been usually jolly good for them for years, and it makes a change to hear him whinge/miss 2 or 3. Ref (who probably is same chap who dismissed Chelsea chap early in 1st leg this season) has correctly adm...

Midden

I thought that after not good (Hasselbaink never wins proper trophy ...) Midden 1st half that ref should have given pen. for equaliser. Sevilia too had a couple of good Bras. Ray Parlour should have played.

Good luck to A-Arse in Paris if VaVa plays for real, or B-Arse if Smiler plays delightfully.

Despite some perceived 'iffy' sounds as described above, I now like my CD of this fun/appreciated 2004 concert-thang. I heard 'Surprise' yesterday and did not like it first-play. Nth London

Tot did very well despite strange shenanigans surrounding final match. As much as I like good Arse play now and then, I hope they are not as successful in new stadium named in memory of 1st almost acceptable recent Chels Premiership. In April 1986 a chum took me to Highbury to see Charlie Nicholas s...
