Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Fopp had the CD for £12 and, annoyingly, the vinyl for only £13. The local indie also had the CD for £12 but vinyl hadn't arrived. Fopp only had one copy of the vinyl.

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Well, I dunno. I've had the darn thing for a week and I just live in Orstrilia. I don't have any special Costello family connections. I just bought it at a local record store. This whole thing of it not being available in England just seems like bullshit - everybody else can buy the damn thing, wha...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Glad you're enjoying the Duffy album Blue. I think I posted elsewhere that Elvis would do a credible version of Warwick Avenue. There's also another track on there that reminds me of Elvis' version of Don't Lose Your Grip On Love. So who is better, Duffy or Adele? I saw Adele on Morning Becomes Ecl...

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

UK buyers might be interested in this price:
£12.03 delivered from US - via Amazon Marketplace
Ordered one last night, already shipped by this morning. Based on previous orders, will probably take about 7-8 working days.

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Whilst i love the idea of releasing the album on vinyl only im having a hell of a job tracking down a copy!! Has anyone in the Uk actually managed to buy a copy or is this all part of Elvis's plan to p*ss off his British fans??? ive contacted HMv and Fopp in Manchester who both say copies are on or...

Just noticed that this is available on the not especially legal torrent site, www.thebox.bz
Doesn't seem to be a problem registering.

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Careful. If you post things saying that Steve Hoffman is legendary people might start to believe it's true, rather than a figment of the mullet-wearing-one's imagination.

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

UK shops, while listing Monday as the release date, appear to have no idea about when their vinyl copies will actually arrive. Anyone in the UK got an idea on when we might actually be able to hear this?

Re: Recent CD Purchases

By the way, did you order Seldom Seen Kid on CD or vinyl? The first song is very quiet, so when you first put it on, turn the volume right up to get the full sense of the detail, OK? Vinyl. I will make sure to crank it up! Lucky! I ordered the deluxe CD, which does sound splendid as it's the first ...

Re: books, books, books

Got this as an xmas gift, anyone read it? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41wprR9zrKL._AA240_.jpg It's pretty good. It was the first book on Waits I think. Lots of quotes from lots of interviews up to that point and little-known facts. Does a good job of pieceing together a story of what was ...

EC on Sky Arts in the new year - Toussaint show

Sky Arts are launching a specific music strand for Saturday nights from this weekend. The main thing is the 'From The Basement' show, which'll include a personal favourite, Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, this week. EC and Allen feature in the new year, along with another showing of the Memphis sh...

Yeah, the bloody Brits. Buying all those bloody records, going to all his bloody concerts. We're such gits. Cheers for that, Elvis. Nice touch. According to another forum, Costello doesn't make the cover, it's the Zep instead. While this does make him sound an arse, it's no great surprise after hear...

Enjoyed my first play of the new Jens Lekman earlier. Delightfully fun stuff.

I just noticed that the new album by The Coral is already down to £4.97 on CD over at Amazon! (Go via the link at the top folks!)

The Coral album is a slow-burning delight. Possibly their most accomplished to date.
I love the Hawley board. Splendid atmosphere, and good on Richard for taking the time.

I think it's a great record. It's unashamedly BIG for much of the time and it put me in such a good mood the first time I played it, I put it on again immediately, which I don't often do.

Try to spend as little as possible on anything other than music. Agreed on the time thing, never enough of it.

Hmm. There are those who suggest that the Fopp purchase was at least partly about ensuring that the brand couldn't come back in its independent form to challenge HMV. My other concern is that they will start strong to show willing and then gradually tail off. I'm quite happy to be proved wrong on th...

Yeah, but Action Records is run by lovely people and Fopp is run by HMV.
That said, I also spent a reasonable amount in the re-opened Nottingham store last week. Nice to have it back, but I suspect the novelty will wear off soon. Apparently it will be getting vinyl, which could keep me interested.
