Cool choice! I've been playing Kid A, having seen a Culture Show interview with Thom Yorke, in which he answered the question 'What song do you think is your best?' with How To Disappear Completely, saying it was a beautiful piece where they achieved something really special. Occurred to me I never...

Yup. They're sending them out from the various online stores. Mine's from One Little Indian in the UK so it was nice and quick.

Following the tip from WSS (Cheers muchly!) I pre-ordered the Pernice Brothers' new record and it arrived today, along with the handmade, autographed bonus disc. A lovely little item. The album's sounding good too.

I'm with WSS on this. 'Coles Corner' is a superb record and, to these ears, his best. That's not to say the previous albums weren't up to much, his catalogue is a joy from start to finish.

Perfect indie-pop. Off to see them in a couple of weeks. Currently rotating all three Pulp reissues, the 2CD editi...

1 is a recording from the end of the 60s featuring a selection of soul singers, including Merry Clayton and Judy Collins doing ten Dylan tracks in a gospel style. Mark Lamarr turned me onto it via his superb Friday Night / Saturday Morning show on Radio 2. 2 is the latest guide of Jason Molina, alth...

I picked up the CD/DVD set from Woolies earlier. They had once again ballsed up their pricing of special editions so I was able to get it for 9.97 instead of 14.97. They hurriedly set about repricing the special editions as I left the store. DVD seems inconsequential enough, but the album, on first ...

You Got My Mind Messed Up - James Carr After hearing his version of 'The Dark End Of the Street' (some say it's the best version of the song) I had to own it. It hadn't dawned on me that Elvis did it on the expanded KV; not until I looked at Amazon and saw 'Pouring Water On a Drowning Man' listed. ...

Hmmm, agree to disagree does seem to be the best course of action on the whole Sufjan / Guillemots debates. As for Thom Yorke. I've tried it. I don't dislike it, and a couple of tracks are very good but it doesn't seem passionate enough for me. I've read that Nigel Godrich got him to make the vocals...

BTW, I am very happy to see Shack's "..On The Corner of Miles & Gil" as one of the choices on your Best of 2006 So Far Poll. It got my vote. Well, that answers a question for me! It's a really strong record that never really seems to lose the joy of the first play, if you know what I ...

It's funny you should mention Sufjan, as that album is one that was raved about that I didn't really click with. To me that record represented a great deal of artifice and ambition but with absolutely no regard for quality control. None of it's terrible, but good grief he could have chopped out a hu...

That's Hawley's old band, ain't it? I haven't heard any of their stuff and after hearing what RH has to say about it am inclined to think I'm not missing much. Am I wrong? Well, it's not as good as 'The Sun Is Often Out' - the debut album, but it has its moments. It represents a certain era that I ...
