Re: EC & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton - UK Tour, June 2022

My daughter and I sat in the first row of the loge at Fox Theater in Oakland on November 14th. Fantastic seats -- but all told, with service charges, etc. -- the price came out to $175 per ticket. Crazy.

Nonetheless -- it wasn't exactly a difficult decision.

Re: New compilation / package, based on Painted From Memory, 2022

So -- a Painted from Memory expanded edition would have to include the Royal Festival Hall show from '98, wouldn't it? It's a great recording, and a wonderful performance. http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/index.php/Concert_1998-10-29_London Especially the complete audience recording! :wink...

Just listened to Seven Day Weekend a couple of days ago. It's actually quite good. Now Honey Are You Straight is another story. I doubt that I'll ever come around to it.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're under parameters set by whoever is carrying the tour insurance. It's a big deal right now. It's difficult, and expensive, to get somebody to underwrite a tour.

Is "The Beat" the first recording by EC and the Attractions? I was just coming here to post this very item. The liner notes for the remaster of This Year's Model has the breakdown of the recording dates as well. (In English.) Interesting. I may never hear that performance the same way aga...

< ... Today I started with the Hip-O version of 'My Aim Is True'. The Nashville Rooms concert is a tremendous document. (Not to mention the soundcheck.) It's an official live release like no other. Re: Do you have a favorite EC concert?

I don't disagree. I will say, however, that the songs themselves were gracefully liberated from the unfortunate clutches of Goodbye Cruel World in one fell swoop. Having seen three solo shows in April/May '84, I was fairly bemused upon release of the new album. I played along -- it was well above mo...
