Re: Why have I not been listening to Elvis?
< ... Today I started with the Hip-O version of 'My Aim Is True'. The Nashville Rooms concert is a tremendous document. (Not to mention the soundcheck.) It's an official live release like no other. They're not quite manically frenzied yet. I really enjoy the more-measured approach as a contrast to ...

Re: Do you have a favorite EC concert?
I don't disagree. I will say, however, that the songs themselves were gracefully liberated from the unfortunate clutches of Goodbye Cruel World in one fell swoop. Having seen three solo shows in April/May '84, I was fairly bemused upon release of the new album. I played along -- it was well above mo...

Re: What Next For Elvis after A Face In The Crowd ?
Given Nick Lowe's tendencies towards studio recordings these last many years, I would seriously doubt a "rave up" theme.
A Costello album, with a Nick Lowe approach similar to (say) "Dig My Mood", could be a theoretical marvel.

Strange. He's playing a Gretsch guitar, which, to my knowledge, he hadn't done often (in concert, anyway). It harkens back to my first Costello concert -- February 1978, Zellerbach Auditorium, Berkeley CA. After a cacophonus display on his Fender Jazzmaster, for the better part of an hour, he came o...
