Re: Sherlock

Sherlock: "Having eliminated the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth"
Watson: "What does that mean?"

:D

They have such fun with the original text. A joy to behold.

Re: Elvis when you least expect it

At a pub quiz, and already well served when the quiz started, I earned early respect when the question 'What song features the refrain "sending out an SOS to the world"?' was asked, to which I immediately responded 'Massage in a brothel, by Los Polizei'. I was heralded as the exact pop gen...

Re: What is 'The Beat' about ?

As well as the 'Summer Holiday' reference aleady mentioned, there may also be a reference to Sir Cliff's 'On the Beach' (an otherwise p!ss poor parody of the original Elvis in beach party mode). Also, the chorus contains a nod to The Kinks 'See My friends'.

A low share ratio is a likely cause of your problems. DimeaDozen is very particular about it. You appear to have reached the position where you can't download any new 'torrents' so you have to up your ratio, either by continuing to seed the torrents you have already completed, or by uploading new sh...

How Will I Ever Be Simple Again Written by Richard Thompson Oh she danced in the street with the guns all around her All torn like a rag doll, barefoot in the rain And she sang like a child, toora-day toora-daddy Oh how will I ever be simple again She sat by the banks of the dirty grey river And tr...

Re: The Unthanks

Saw them in Derby recently. Just a bit special. The newly expanded band, adding strings & brass etc, can create epic settings for what might otherwise be simply melodramatic. Both sisters have excellent and distincttive voices, I'm particualrly taken by Rebecca's breathy vocals. The final song t...

He came up in pub conversation last night, and the consensus seemed to be "Who He?". Even Mrs RtHtW seemed unaware of the great man and his works, yet remarked on the contrast of good looking 70s Rock-Type with Naughties fat bloke in a wheel chair. However, when I played Solid Air she seem...

RT was phenomenal, though set list and banter seem little changed from reports of other nights (in pre Net days that didn't really matter, but we expect so much more now). However, a recent posting on RTs site led me to this rather wonderful corner of t'InterWeb: The Black Cab Sessions They have sho...

No, I haven't seen this show before (he's only done a few one offs of it in the UK, till now), but I have the DVD of a show in San Francisco (wherein he remarks that singing Shenandoah to an American audience makes him feel like a Rolling Stone c. 1965 - he's a funny chap). I think RT continues to m...

Who would have thought that this year's X Factor winner's song would be Hallelujah!?
I can't imagine what the boy Eoghan Quigg would have made of it, but Alexandra has a damned good stab at it.
Could this mean, Leonard Cohen get's the UK christmas #1 slot?

As usual, there are several ways to skin a cat.

However, my favoured method is to use Firefox as my browser, with 'add-ons' such as DownloadHelper or FlashGot.

Re: Radio Radio on SNL: awesome or overrated?

I think the 'policy' on TotP changed several times over the years. In the 60s we were all so innocent that we didn't realise that our idols were miming (although some were better at it than others). Later on, Musician's Union grief mean that a 'quota' of performances had to be re-recorded using some...
