Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

My CD came today at last ...was that 'breaking news' ?..... Mine arrived yesterday, and thanks to the heads up I've been handling it gingerly so as not to tear the cover. The review should be up next week, and I still like it more than Look Now. The Helsinki mouth songs work a little better in this...

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

Amazon informed me on Thursday that my CD would arrive on Tuesday, then told me Tuesday it would arrive in 2-3 weeks. Nobody I spoke with there had any clue what was going on. At any rate, I did Spotify it once, and I liked it, more than I liked Look Now. Hopefully my review will be up in a week or ...

Re: The Complete Armed Forces (Super Deluxe Edition)

Were this a three-, four-, or five-CD set under $100, I'd pony up the cash immediately. Vinyl may sound better, but at these prices they're just too expensive to play, if that makes sense.

Re: Elvis in Mojo #324

Is he really the hardest working singer in lockdown? I mean, Steve Nieve streamed nearly daily from March, though he doesn't sing. I've been streaming nearly daily since March too, and I "sing", but nobody cares.

Re: David Gouldstone comments on his book (in 1989) about Elvis

What a wonderful exchange. I still have the "God's Comic" edition, and I thumb through it from time to time. He's not the only fan who's written a book from a personal standpoint, only to seemingly lose interest in the topic as the decades roll by. Ron Schaumburg's "Growing Up With Th...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

I find it very interesting -- for lack of a better word -- that Look Now has gotten such high praise all over the place. I found it satisfactory at best, and only that much better than the McCartney album, which I found hollow but also got universal praise. Am I the only one here who doesn't think L...

Also, the official copyrighted lyric is "The baby is dead, my lady said". Maybe that's it?

Here's my take. (Spoiler alert: not a masterpiece, but better than Egypt Station, which is also not a masterpiece.) Have at it.

Re: 'Bright Blue Times' - vinyl single - 500 on sale at latest shows, June 2017

There is a fine line between fun and torturing fans. Or maybe torturing fans is part of the fun? I've long suspected that EC is conflicted by how much he needs us, compounded by his resentment of our fanatical dedication. He's already said that he makes all his money from touring, so why not, I don...

The sound in Wallingford was pristine. No complaints from me. (or other people I asked who went to the same show)

Clubland included the Insensatez snippet, Shabby Doll began with the first line of Happiness Is A Warm Gun, and Pump It Up quoted Subterranean Homesick Blues.

14 out of 15 IB tracks. Little Savage at the piano with the ladies helping out. Incredible.

I have no desire to hear Imperial Bedroom the song. As long as I know I'm getting much of the album, I'll just have to dream of the album in order.

Re: Elvis's Worst Song And Why

I'll put in an early vote for "Sunday's Best". Why? The lyrics are a list, cobbled together quickly. The keyboards don't sound like any carousel I'd like to ride. And the drums sound like I could be playing them.

I've been saying for years -- or at least two record labels ago -- that he should sell his music directly to his fans. Pete Townshend did, Robert Fripp still does. But I think he still harbors some resentment for those of us who'll buy anything and everything.
