Dust

The public radio station here in Pittsburgh is doing a pledge drive and so they are doing a week long random list of the listeners favorite songs. Like any list of favorite songs there is no rhyme or reason, Elvis' 'Dust' from My Flame Burns Blue comes in at #710 (or somewhere in the 700's) and XTC'...

Re: Recently viewed films

Instead of watching the Super Bowl I went to the movies. I was excited to see 'Stan and Ollie', but when I got to the theatre I thought it was playing at 'An Acceptable Loss' was playing. The movie sounded intriguing so I decided to say. With a title like "An Acceptable Loss' I knew to had to a...

Re: Elvis plays JF

It wasn't my imagination!! I was just on the JazzFest board and other people had heard his name mentioned as being there. People are speculating that Elvis will only be taking part of the tribute to Mr. Toussaint.

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

I used my Amazon gift cards that I got for Kwanza to get Elvis' Look Now and the remastered White Album . Look Now is comparable with PFM, but is edgier. Of course, the Beatles have never sounded so crisp and clean. Do you think Elvis woke up one day and thought to himself, 'I think I'll write a son...

Question about Pete Thomas

While I was in New Orleans for JazzFest I caught Los Lobos at an evening show at the House Of Blues. I was talking to a guy standing next to me who was a local drummer and he said he had done some studio work with Pete and Elvis. He said he and Pete and Los Lobos' drummer (Bugs????) had done some re...

Re: Recently viewed films

"Loving Vincent" is a film totally done with oil paintings. The look of the film is spectacular. It's as if Van Gogh painted the whole film: the colors were vibrant. The acting, directing, and story of the film were good. The story takes place a year after Vincent's death and a friend of h...

Re: Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers - Pittsburgh, Heinz Hall- June 13 2017

If Elvis stays in Pittsburgh for the night he can go to the Pittsburgh Penguins parade on Wednesday. Last year they had close to 400,000 people at the parade. On the other side of town tonight, Hall and Oates are playing with Tears For Fears. Both shows start at 7, but if Tears go on first Hall coul...

Re: Recently viewed films

Saw a nice little film from the UK called Their Finest starring Gemma Atherton and Bill Nighy. It was a bit slow at times, but all in all it worked. Bill Nighy's character was pithy.
