Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

I’ve cracked and mail ordered mine from Rough Trade, having failed in my quest to buy it locally. I’ve spotified it several times and I’m loving it, especially the quicker songs, especially especially Hettie. Radio is Everything reminds me uncannily of “Tour Jacket with Detachable Sleeves” by Half M...

I’m sure that Getting Mighty Crowded should be in there.

And something else too.

Not “Something Else”, although I’d like to hear that. I mean another song :D

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

Sulky - you are an absolute hero in going to EVERY show. I is well jealous innit. As you are the man for the setlists, could you add the other songs included eg Pump it up in Southampton included Ain't that a lotta love. It's interesting because reading another review, he added something else. Thes...

Re: Elvis & the Imposters play City Hall, Sheffield, 7th March 2020.

That would be great. Any decent pubs nearby that you recommend ? There are plenty of decent pubs in Sheffield, but not so many near the City Hall. The nearest places are all cathedrals for the closing time choirs. I’d recommend seeking out either the Red Deer on Pitt Street, or The Bath Hotel on Vi...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, March 2, 2020

Elvis’ voice was much better last night than it was in Liverpool. Just about glad and American without tears were most welcome. Two of my all time favourite songs. There was a nice snippet of Subterranean Homesick Blues in the middle of an electrifying Pump it up. On a side note, I’m collecting Labo...

Some missing off that list. Getting Mighty Crowded :D Unwanted Number Mr and Mrs Hush Flutter and Wow Great to see everyone. Quick thoughts. Elvis really struggles with some songs now. Shipbuilding was not good. Mostly great though. More enjoyable once girls moved to the front. From A Whisper To A ...

If anyone else needs any encouragement, The Royal Concert Hall don’t charge any rip off fees, if you book directly with them.

£97.50 for a front row seat in Nottingham First reaction - "whaaaat - you're having my pants down there" <remembers it's Elvis Costello> "HAVE MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS!" *but for the record the same venue and the same seat in 2018 was £55...he better play twice as long! Two things...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

See you in Sheffield, I expect I'll be looking down on you! Colin Having battled with the Sheffield City Hall booking site, using my phone from a car park in Aquitaine, I was disappointed to see that the “possible restricted view” seats no longer exist. My inner Yorkshireman kicked in at that point...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

Sat 7 Mar – Sheffield City Hall- tickets £50/£55/£65/£75/£85/£95 £95 !!!!!!!!!!!!!, plus booking fee that will be over a hundred quid, Sheffield City Hall has a very odd pricing structure. The front few rows of the stalls and the circle are often v expensive. There are usually some well priced seat...

Re: Elvis's most 'Marmite' project

I think North would qualify as a 'Marmite' project. I know from conversations on Facebook it seems to divide the fans. Personally speaking I absolutely love both The Juliet Letters and North. For what its worth I love Marmite too TJL really benefits from repeated listening. It sat for years in my c...

Elvis Costello OBE

As above really.

Maybe he should have been given a knighthood, but I guess that an OBE is a start.

For those who are interested, Bill Kirchen plays Sheffield Greystones on 21st March. Sadly, he's in Cardiff on the 20th, or we might have seen a guest appearance.

Busy week for me though. Manchester on Sunday, Sheffield on Monday and Bill Kirchen on Tuesday.

Elvis plays Sheffield 20 March 2017

Presumably part of a wider European tour.

Beyond excited. I usually have to travel miles to see him, so a hometown gig is great news.
