Re: 21st century Elvis

Thank you!

He used to visit us more often, it seemed.
He was here in June and said "I don't know why we've been away so long".
I'm surprised, too, because Elvis has said that Minneapolis is his favorite U.S. city between the coasts.

Re: 21st century Elvis

I was a super-super latecomer to Elvis' work. My first 3 albums were WIWC, Delivery Man & Momofuku, so I really appreciate these albums a lot. They were the only albums of his that I listened to from 2002 until 2011, when I finally started listening to his older work - and then I just went absol...

Re: Elvis on Swedish chat show , Sept 26 2014

Via Google Translate:

Elvis Costello emerged in the late 70th century and is still on top. Now Elvis Costello threatened that he recorded his last album. Skavlan check if it is correct.

Ghost Train was my Holy Grail in Ann Arbor. I shot up out of my seat to applaud and I think I scared my seat neighbors.

Advice needed please

Hi!

I'm putting together a tribute band and would like to get some advice from others who've covered Elvis's music - what sources did you use other than listening? Any book recommendations? I know that at least some of the songs have chords given on the elviscostello.info.

Re: EC and the Roots Las Vegas March 15-16 2014

Where are the comments from Mojo and Veronica Costello? I am dying to hear others' take on the show. I may have been too emotionally taken by the event to be objective about the show. I've been meaning to get over here and post about the shows! I was also up front both nights (Hey Soul For Hire, we...

Re: EC and the Roots Las Vegas March 15-16 2014

I say drink until 8-8:30 pm and then go to venue. Ha! I'd be stumbling in if I did that. That might be kind of fun, though. A quick tip. The Flamingo hotel might look like it is the closest place to part. But its kind of a haul from the parking garage to the Linq. Park at the Linq parking lot inste...

Re: EC and the Roots Las Vegas March 15-16 2014

Those vouchers are not all that great. NakedWines is sort of like a wine club. You have to pay them about $40 a month and they ship you wine from their pool of vintners. I guess if you really into drinking wine it's a good deal. Otherwise, you throwing money toward collecting wine bottles. Oh, neve...

Wow! I should have had my tickets mailed!
I'm flying out from Minneapolis for the shows. I hate Las Vegas but right now I hate snow more.

Re: Set list ideas for all-female EC cover band.

Definitely Girls Talk is on my list. Maybe Honey, too. I don't think I'm ready to tackle the complexity of sounds on many of the albums, so for now I am trying to go mostly with songs that I think would be most possible to pull off reasonably well with just guitar, bass, keys & drums. So far her...

Set list ideas for all-female EC cover band.

I'm planning on putting together an all-female EC cover band. I think it's going to take ages to get a keyboard player  I have a list of songs I want to do, but I would love to get ideas from any of you as well. It will be a bar band, so I would kind of like to keep it predominantly a high-ene...
