A Storm In Tokyo

Can anyone with a copy of this new bootleg (which seems to be in the curious realm of bootlegs that are openly sold on major platforms without reprisal eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/Storm-Tokyo-2Cd-Elvis-Costello/dp/B08LR2D93G ) comment on what the sound quality is like? Is it just a straight pressing...

Re: Olivers Army - the new lyrics

Imagine if the unfathomable last line actually contained the N word (hence him mumbling it so much to avoid upsetting anyone)?

Haha - we both gave up on the last line

I think yours is probably closer than mine.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, March 2, 2020

Something along the lines of The times are changing And peace on earth has come to pass Although the war is raging They say each war will be the last Said the boys back at Enniskellen There's a road block army does all the killing And the BBC will beg forgiveness... Then I can't get the last line at...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, March 2, 2020

Another great show, and Elvis seemed to be enjoying himself a lot more than he did last time (and now we know why) Just About Glad was absolutely brilliant with the 3 part backing vocals - the first time with the band since 2013 according to the wiki? Makes me wonder why it was never a single. Proba...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Nashville, TN, November 4, 2019

Another decent length setlist, but they seem to be varying the length - is that just down to individual venue policies? 26 songs here, but only 19 in Ithaca for example. Some sets have been as short as 1 hour 40 mins I guess I'm just worried that I'll feel short-changed on the UK leg where the ticke...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

Two things. Thing one. The Nottingham show last year was the worst Elv gig I’ve ever seen. We all know why by now, but I’d happily pay more to see better. Thing two. And this is the important thing. The musicians will want paying in US dollars. The pound has tanked in the intervening months. That w...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

*but for the record the same venue and the same seat in 2018 was £55...he better play twice as long! That’s the point I made earlier. The addition of the two ladies has pushed the prices up by over £40 :? It’s obviously a simplistic comment but it does rankle somewhat. Actually no - because the Jun...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

£97.50 for a front row seat in Nottingham
First reaction - "whaaaat - you're having my pants down there"

<remembers it's Elvis Costello>

"HAVE MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS!"

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

The #justtrustuk2020 Thursday clue is "You need wheels" and a picture of Raleigh "The all steel bicycle". As Raleigh bikes are based in Nottingham I guess that's that one sorted. Cue the moans about the sound quality at Nottingham Arena... Hmmm – I was hoping the “not the ...

Re: Erich Sellheim's German versions of Elvis's albums - Almost Blue & Blood And Chocolate , January 2019

Blood And Chocolate http://www.mediafire.com/file/ynvlbep5c4dovlx/Erich_Sellheim_Blood_%2526_Chocolate.rar/file OK - someone put me out of my misery - what is he singing on Blue Chair? It's not the obvious straight translation of Blau Stuhl - sounds like Wegen Stuhl (Because of Chair?) Weigen Stuhl...

Re: Spike: 30 years ago

I played Spike for the first time in years last week to coincide with the 30 year anniversary. I think it is a great album. I could probably live without chewing gum, Stalin Malone and pads paws and claws. As a couple have said it does suffer a little bit with the having to have filler on there to ...

Re: Spike: 30 years ago

I had an old vinyl copy that I sold on back when the deluxe CD was reissued (pre the vinyl resurgence I had a stupid rule that I would sell any record that I had on CD..) Quite by chance I picked up a VG+ vinyl copy this week for £8 (I'm now re-buying the Costello LPs as I realise how much I miss th...

Re: LOOK NOW on 8 7" 45's box set coming 2/22

I don't get how there can be no UK-based webshop for this?

It's prohibitively expensive to order from the UK and get hosed down by the customs fees :(
