Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Being churlish Dishonour The Stars and He's Given Me Things are not in the same league as the others but ....time will tell. Just a thought on Mr & Mrs Hush and the comparison theme; to my ears I immediately think of some of the songs on River in Reverse i.e. Elvis's vocal delivery, Davey's? ha...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Had the pleasure of half a dozen listens to the standard version (the deluxe is still on its way despite a pre order!). Agree with so many of the comments to date. "Gorgeous" is so apt and it does take multiple listens to get a feel for the work and differentiate between the MANY brilliant...

Re: The Style Council and Elvis sing My Ever Changing Moods

Since circa 2008 and his "22 Dreams" album onwards Weller has been in a rich vein of form including his latest "A Kind Revolution". Oh and his earlier solo work like Stanley Road is a pretty decent effort. He may have gone a tad "samey" for a while (Dad Rock as it was c...

"Costello's inclination to sing off time from the phrasing presented on studio versions was a bit jarring" The above is my only consistent quibble with his performances over the years particularly last decade and a half? As a result he seems to be playing "'catch up", certainly w...

He sat in a spare seat in the front row at one point while singing . I seem to recall during the Delivery Man tour(s) he did this on a number of occasions as he wanted to "watch the band". Think it was for Almost Blue and probably stage managed, as the only free seat on the front row was ...

I am tempted to pass comment on this statement bearing in mine my current location and its historical past. But that would not be PC would it ?

Picked up mine from a local bookshop at the weekend (did not pre order) and was surprised it was a soft not hard back version. Was their a choice?
Assumed the intial print would all be hard followed later by cheaper/soft copies.Plus most images I have seen appear to be hardback. :?

It was on the "So Like Candy" CD single in 1991 and the Rhino reissue of Spike in 2001.

Cheers for that. Guess what I will be listening to today.

Just received my copy via a friend in England. Had a very quick peep last night before I settle down to a more leisurely read over the next few days. A couple of random comments on some song rankings I noticed which I found “interesting”. Tokyo Storm Warning = 5 stars for a song that really grates f...

Think it was Cambridge Corn Exchange either 1978 or 79. I didn’t keep my ticket stubs then. I am sure the Wiki will confirm actual year. I was seeing a lot of the "New Wave !" bands/artists around in those days so apologies for my vagueness. It was definitely pre Armed Forces release thoug...
