Re: Elvis UK Tour 2013

Sulky lad, I might well be taking a leaf out of your book and renaming myself sulky woman, if Elvis fails to do a solo UK tour. The fans across the pond are just SO spoilt, getting an extra, very juicy, bite of the cherry in the form of solo dates on the East Coast. I feel like starting a petition!

Re: 2013 US North East Coast solo tour just announced

I am SO jealous of fans over in the USA right now! I would absolutely LOVE to see Elvis do a solo tour here in the UK. I love his voice and find that sometimes the noise from the band just drowns it out at times. I prefer EC singing balads or slow, broody numbers, rather than the louder stuff. If I ...

Re: EC/Imposters play Glastonbury, June 29, 2013

Couldn't see anything of Elvis showing via the red button tonight, so ended up watching it online via the BBC website, where the whole set (1 hour, 20 mins) was there in all its glory. Elvis did a great job and though it's clear that many people in the crowd were just holding their places until thei...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

VG: "I was going to look for the stage door after the show (and gave up because it was a bit Spinal Tap)"... err, not quite sure I understand what you mean? I think I was stood at the Stage door with Wolferinefan, (was it you who kindly took a picture of me with EC?) Yes, if you were the g...

Re: Elvis UK Tour 2013

I can feel the post tour blues kicking in already, as for me Basingstoke was the final concert of this tour. I will console myself with the fact that his appearance at Glasto will be televised, so that's something to look forward to. I hope that EC will tour again next year, and for my part I'...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

What a fantastic show this was! Great venue, great view and unlike the RAH, no problems with the accoutics. :D We enjoyed this concert much better than the one at RAH and couldn't fault EC's performance - the man is just amazing! :) (By the way, thanks to advice posted previously we parked in Festiv...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

I am on a mission to help my friend to meet EC, either before or after this concert. She is a lifelong fan of Elvis and has all his old records on vinyl, so I'm really hoping that I can achieve my goal, because it would mean so much to her. I'm not familiar with this venue, so would really appreciat...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

Ah, mystery solved, thanks LF! I can understand the need for the monitor as back up, because there are so many songs on the wheel, plus people might occasionally request an obscure song that EC hasn't played for a while, but the position was a bit unlucky for us. We will be a little further back thi...

Re: Elvis and The Imposters with others in Hyde Park July 12

I think this could be a good night, if you like Elton John, but I'm not overly keen on EJ so I'll give this one a miss. As for Hyde Park sound quality, I guess it depends where you're standing. I've been to the Radio 2 Festival in a Day Concert twice and both times I've really enjoyed it. The ticket...

Re: Elvis UK Tour 2013

From what I saw, very similar to last year, just with the year changed. I wish they'd do some stuff with up to date photos of Elvis, rather than using so many pictures from decades back. He's still an attractive man, in some ways more so now than the early days, when he was thinner but somewhat nerd...

Thanks Little Fool. I've been reading reviews about this venue and they all seem to concur with what you're saying, so I'm feeling hopeful that this will be a great night. Will you and your wife manage to get on stage again, I wonder? :D From side circle my friend and I have no chance, but I doubt e...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 5 June '13

Thanks Imposter, it's good to know that others understand where I'm coming from. I will just put it down to experience and stick to the smaller venues in future. Your comments about the drums and guitars drowning Elvis out/seeming out of balance very much chime with my feelings about the sound quali...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

I have tickets for front row of the side circle, row DA (left stage). However, after last night's experience of being in a similar position at the RAH, I'm wondering if I'm going to be disappointed again with the sound quality? Is there anyone around here who knows this venue well and can give me so...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 5 June '13

The RAH is a beautiful building and the tour was quite enjoyable, made more so by the fact that we were able to see and hear EC rehearsing at various points along the way. :) We had a nice meal beforehand in the Cafetiere, a bit overpriced for what you get, but quite tasty. Now to the main event... ...

I don't think either of us would be brave enough to go up on stage with EC, but we are SO EXCITED now! The icing on the cake is that the weather is looking good for our jaunt up to London, so my friend is under orders to ensure I am supplied with ice cream while we take in some sunshine in Hyde Park...

Re: Elvis Facebook post on day of Thatcher's funeral

Somebody posted a recent newspaper interview on another thread, relating to this subject. EC was very measured in what he said, saying that he would be rejoicing too, if the Thatcher ideas were dead/gone, and implied that the lyrics in the song were not so much about Thatcher personally, but more ab...

Re: Elvis UK Tour 2013

My tickets for RAH and Basingstoke arrived ages ago, but I booked direct with the venues, by phone, which gave me much better seats than were offered by the usual online ticket sites. Also, I was very lucky and managed to get my RAH tickets upgraded today, by ringing the RAH and just asking if there...

EC on BBC 3 programme about Roy Orbison

Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd flag up that EC was on a programme on BBC 3 (or maybe 4?) last night, talking about the late, great Roy Orbison. There were lots of other famous musicians featured as well, all giving their thoughts on 'the Big O". I wasn't a huge fan of RO but I like some of his s...

I'll be there with my friend. I just rang the RAH and booked the concert tour and meal package and while I was on the phone I asked if there was any chance of upgrading our tickets. The lady was very helpful and managed to get us front row tickets for no extra cost!!! She said they are sort of lease...

Re: EC/Imposters play Glastonbury, June 29, 2013

Looking back at the Youtube clips, Elvis didn't seem to enjoy his last visit to Glasto much, so I'm surprised he's doing this one really, but as a working musician I guess he can't always pick and choose which venues plays. Anyway, I think the weather played a big part in dampening people's enthusia...

Re: Elvis Facebook post on day of Thatcher's funeral

I'm probably going to come under fire for saying this, but I really wish EC had not made that post on the day of Thatcher's funeral. I can well understand that his dislike of the woman and her politics is not going to disappear just because she has died, but bearing in mind that her friends and fami...

Re: 35 Years Plus - Time for Celebration?

Ah yes, that looks good. I guess some mention will be made in that of the fact that EC's first hit single was in 1977. Apart from the endless reunion tour hype that goes on around various ageing rock/pop bands, it often seems to be the case that the media in the UK only give people the credit they d...

35 Years Plus - Time for Celebration?

Considering that EC has had such a long and successful career in music, I find it rather puzzling that he doesn't seem to get proper recognition for a career spanning 35 years plus. Other musicians/singers are often lauded for much shorter careers, having special anniversaries/TV specials to celebra...

Re: Let's get Elvis to No. 1!

Yes, quite a decent result, considering the stiff competition. There were some great songs in the top 10, though to my mind, quite a few between 20 and 10 that were nowhere near as good as Oliver's Army, IMO. But that's probably just me being a tad biased.
