It's a 60 page pamphlet with a potted history of the collaboration plus photos plus all the lyrics, can't return the disc to the rear pouch though as the glue as leeched into the inner folds of the packaging.

Re: 40 DAYS OF ELVIS COSTELLO: A Countdown To WISE UP GHOST

Got the 'deluxe' edition on CD today and really looking forward to listening. The back page of the packaging/cover has a diagonal slot which holds the disc but unfortunately the glue used to assemble the package was all over the disc so had to spend 10 minutes cleaning gum off the disc before I coul...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

Yes, he did start Shipbuilding from the stalls which led to quite an amusing incident. After he'd finished She it was obvious that he had originally decided that was the last song of his 'walkabout' but decided to launch into Shipbuilding. He tried to get Steve's attention to indicate this and then ...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

Glad your evening went well Wolfie, we too had the most marvellous time and also managed to get a signature and a photo at the end. It looked as though some of the people coming out of the stage door must have had a VIP package, (maybe one of the Golden Tickets from the cancelled gig), so perhaps th...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

Just a quick warning to anyone who (like me), is travelling to Basingstoke from the west. The A303 at Stonehenge will be at virtual standstill for the next 24 hours as it is the Summer Solstice. Hoping for a good gig tonight, my last of four of the current tour. Maybe meet up with some forum users i...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

The stage door at the Anvil is around the back and quite accessable from the street. I waited last time (when he did a solo gig with the Brodskys) but alas no show. I have, however been to quite a number of non Costello gigs at the Anvil where the artist has quite happily mingled in the bar area eit...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Liverpool, 10 June '13

After lots of e-mails and veiled threats of revealing what a scam the so-called VIP package is I now have the tour poster, laminates, picks and 7" vinyl. The Costello promoters, management and merchandisers have no knowledge of this package, it is from a company in the states called Artist Aren...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

Wolverinefan, the obstacle blocking your view that you refer to in your RAH post is, (rather bizarrely) disguising a monitor that displays the words to the song he is singing. I doubt there will be a chance of me and Mrs. LF making a third appearance at wheel spinning, to have achieved this twice se...

The Anvil is acoustically brilliant, I don't think that you will be disappointed with that seating position. The venue is relatively small so the whole feeling is quite intimate and involving. Hope you enjoy it, see you there.

Heyyyyyyyyy, I fell for the Goat meet up thing on Tuesday. It was suggested that it was a good pre-show vibe among EC followers. I was fortnuate as we met a very nice chap from Norway who was over for the gig but apart from that there was not the 'crowd' that the site suggested.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 5 June '13

When I read Wolfie's upgrade post I thought I'd give it a go at Bristol as although my seats were good a friend hadn't fared quite so well. We went into the box office a couple of hours before the show and he was moved forward 14 rows !! Not quite front row, but certainly a vast imprvement for him. ...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 4 June '13

Well, what a night to remember. Having Monday night off certainly revitalised him as the voice was strong, clear and powerful with no hesitations or faults. The best vocal of the tour so far without doubt. He kept apologising for being beset by technical problems, but as an audience member they went...

I also had a brief chat to Ben and Jess after the show. They really were excited to be on the stage and just couldn.t believe their luck. As you say, they really interacted well and it seemed they knew all the words so true fans. Strangely I also commented to him on the Rezillos shirt !!!

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 4 June '13

I think that those of us attending the first of the London gigs are fortunate that EC has a night off tonight (Monday). I don't wish to sound negative but there did seem to be a few points during the Bristol show where he could not quite conjour up the 'mighty voice'. I really enjoyed the show and h...

Well, it's a nice sunny Sunday and soon I'll be driving to Bristol for tonights gig. This will be my 57th show (since 1977) and I'm taking a friend who is an EC virgin !!
Hoping for a good show and maybe even the chance of a wheel spin, (on the stage, not my driving). See you all there.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Birmingham, 31 May '13

Birmingham was a fantastic night but I do agree with the comments that he was 'measured' in his vocal delivery, perhaps wary that he has to sustain this for the other shows. As with last year he seems to be constantly chewing a menthol gum which must be very difficult to do and sing at the same time...

Our Swedish friend makes good sense. Every concert I went to in the late 70's, 80's and 90's all opened with Accidents Will Happen.

The fan pre-sale con seems to be common among all artists. It's as if the venues allocate a block of tickets about a third of the way back and then lo and behold on the regular sales day front row is readily available. !!!!!

Re: 40 Terrible Albums by Great Artists - Guess which EC alb

Totally agree with CTB, North is an album that I anticipated and wanted to like. Most of the songs start to develop but there is a certain 'discord' to the vocal delivery which may have been intended but in reality sounds like failure to hit the right notes. Blasphemy I know, but as an avid fan sinc...

Re: Elvis/Imposters play Cornbury Festival, June 30 '12

Sounds like Cornbury was good, I'm looking forward to next year, particularly the re-scheduled Basingstoke gig. As regards the smiling issue, these days he is positively jovial and jocular compared to some performances I saw in the late 70's and early 80's. In those days he was quite vitriolic and y...
