Re: Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers - Indianapolis, IN, Murat Theatre , June 10 2017

I think Elvis spilling a bottle of water on Steve's piano deserves its own spot on the set list, because that happened to much fanfare.

It was a great show. First time I've seen several of those songs live. I'm too tired to write anything else, but did I mention it was a GREAT SHOW?

Re: New album for 2013: "Wise Up Ghost" (with The Roots!)

Having listened to the many bonus tracks on EC releases over the years, I'm used to hearing the same lyrics in different contexts. He's always had wandering lyrics that sometimes had trouble finding a permanent home in a song. You could say he's taken that to the next level here, dislodging lyrics t...

Re: Walk Us Uptown - any radio play?

I went to an outdoor Shakespeare performance Saturday evening and heard the song blaring from a loudspeaker as we were walking to the amphitheatre. I'm not sure if they were broadcasting a radio station or had compiled their own music. Either way, it was nice to hear the song in public.

It's kind of hilarious that these people are treating Elvis Costello like some sort of American Idol contestant.

The cover art has landed my head back in college, when I had a shelf filled with those things. Love the song. Love the lyrics. I've been playing it for about 45 minutes straight, which I think is the proper amount of obsession for a new Elvis Costello song.

I'm one of those true crime freaks, so I'll keep an eye out. An initial search of the usual sources didn't turn up anything.

Twitchy is an evil web site, but I occasionally check in to see what they're upset about. That's how I found this.

It's hard to imagine Elvis in the kitchen. I imagine there is sneering at cutlery involved.

Thanks. It was great to hear his dad sing. I was inspired to seek out more Ross, which is why I've now got this song running through my head in a continuous loop.

This thread is reminiscent of people sitting around talking about their Loch Ness Monster sightings. All we need now is a blurry photograph. Don't forget Big Foot. You are all very welcome. I tipped off the folks at the Dangerous Minds blog about the video and one of them wrote a post about it that provides a bit of context.

The Way They Were

I found this on the esteemed Tubes of You this morning. It's a compilation of punk and New Wave performances that originally aired on Granada television from 1976 to 1978. EC makes a couple of appearances.

Re: When was your first Elvis gig?

I had to wait until 2005 to get my chance. It was at Clowes Hall in Indianapolis. Solo show. Just the man and his guitar. The crowd was great. The performance was great. I had been a fan for about 15 years by that point, so finally getting to see him was a huge thrill.
