Re: What's happened to EC's accent?

It's certainly less annoying than Madonna's sudden-onset British accent.

Re: What's happened to EC's accent?

He's been spending the majority of his time in America for quite a while. I suppose some alteration of accent was inevitable. Yank corruption.

Re: Favorite Elvis Costello Song?

I love the recorded version. It's probably my favorite thing on that album. Despite the lyrics not being particularly uplifting, the song never fails to make me a little happy fizzy inside.

Re: Bacharach/David Tribute On PBS Tonight

Stevie Wonder stole the show. I enjoyed it for the most part. My only complaint is Lyle Lovett. The guy has a very sketchy voice, and his face hurts my eyes. I don't know why he always gets invited to these things.

Bacharach/David Tribute On PBS Tonight

I thought this might be of interest to EC fans. Mrs. Krall is one of the performers.

Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.

I finally got around to watching the DVD a couple of weeks ago, and I've watched it a couple more times since. It's the best official concert release that I've seen from the boy. The initial chunk of songs is definitely the weakest part, but after that obligatory moment has passed, there are a lot o...

Re: Your LEAST favorite Elvis song and why

Chunks of King of America and Goodbye Cruel World do nothing for me. I have big problems with the way Spike was produced (far, far, far prefer the live God's Comic). As far as a specific song, though, I'll go with Chemistry Class. Primarily because it stands out more given the brilliance of the rest...

Re: Help me find the really good songs!?? (Top 25 all time?

I remember when I first got heavily into Elvis back in the early 90s. After the obligatory greatest hits thingy, I just started with the first album and bought them in chronological order, one at a time. It certainly worked for me. Of course, that was back in the Paleozoic, when people actually had ...

Not only would I look at the site, I would also track down that Jocko Wainwright lad and send him a free copy of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook release. Yep, that's what I would do.

You should probably listen to these other people, since my knowledge of drumming would fit on the head of a pin, but I've always enjoyed his work on Get Happy the most. It's simple but memorable, which probably has a lot to do with the style of music on that album.

Re: Elvis/Imposters, Huntington, NY , Sept. 30 '11

That Josephine bit was magical when I saw it in Indy. Dead silence once people realized what was up. Even the two gibbering twits in front of me managed to shut it for a minute. Goosebumps. I guess what happened at this show was the other side of the coin. I can imagine him thinking that there wasn'...

I can't afford this, but so what? I'll just add it to the list of things I can't afford, which currently stretches from here to Jupiter. Thankfully, I'm not a completist, so I won't wake up drenched in sweat and weeping over the fact that I don't own another version of songs I already have. This is ...
