Re: Elvis supporting Elton John at Hyde Park Friday 12th Jul

Elvis has posted a withering review of this show:

I think it's hilarious. Josh Holliday sounds like he needs a bit of a holiday himself as I think the heatwave has been getting to him.

Just watching it now. Blimey, his singing is really flat on Shipbuilding.

Hope you can see this photo: https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/1009760_10151641630783718_1389593008_n.jpg It's the view from my seat in Row C. Someone directly behind me in Row D was noting down the set list during the show - was that any of you lot? One of the spinners was a Fr...

Re: Why wasn't the Sessions At The 54th West ever released ?

I bought the VHS on Amazon this week and ripped the audio, including the final unlisted track (Make It Easy On Yourself) that plays during the closing credits. Here's the mp3: http://www.mediafire.com/download/gk3f3426x3qf2uf/EC_with_BB_Sessions_at_west_54th_audio_from_VHS.rar Thanks very much for ...

Re: Mad About The Wrong Boy

Hooray! I was right about Tim Renwick being the guitarist. I was hoping my memory hadn't failed me. Now I'm just interested to know how thepopeofpop managed to get (and "confirm") the wrong information. Weird because he seems much more knowledgeable than me normally...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Basingstoke 20 June 2013

I am going having managed to score some excellent seats (middle of Row C) while almost the entire place was sold out - presumably returns from the previous date. My (admittedly incomplete) records tell me that this is something like the 35th time I've seen Elvis live, but it's the first time since 2...

Re: Steve Nieve's new solo disc now available

Steve Nieve wrote:It is one complete performance, without cuts.
Interesting, as that is exactly the way that "Keyboard Jungle" was recorded. (Although, of course, that was actually two performances, one for each side in the good old days of vinyl.)

Re: The 'Secret' interview with Elvis, 30 years on

Great read! Young EC in "drunk tough guy" mode is always amusing. * I saw Adam & the Ants in L.A. in '81 -- seemed ike a good idea at the time.... :? I think it probably was a good idea. I saw them at the Lewisham Odeon at the end of 1980 and thought they were fantastic - two drum kit...

Re: The 'Secret' interview with Elvis, 30 years on

That's a great story Matthew. Thanks for sharing it with us. I forgot to add that later on I met Elvis's accountant who told me that my failure to cash my 1p cheque had caused him all sorts of difficulties in doing the accounts as no matter which way he added things up he was always 1p out and coul...

Holy Moly - just watched "Oliver's Army" on Youtube. The backing vocals are terrible!

Re: Elvis on new Steve Nieve album?

Also, curious about the fact that, according to this, Steve sings on these recordings. Anyone know what his voice is like? I can't remember who sang on Mad About the Wrong Boy. Steve did sing on his "Mumu" album. It's mostly harmless. As for as the singing on "Mad About the Wrong Boy...

Re: Mad About The Wrong Boy

I apologise if I was wrong about Tim Renwick playing guitar, but that it what I have always believed.

Can I ask how you managed to confirm that it was Bruce?

Re: Mad About The Wrong Boy

Actually I believe the guitar solos on "Mad About the Wrong Boy" were by Tim Renwick, who used to play with Bruce Thomas's old band, Sutherland Brothers & Quiver. I have the album sitting in my shed and can't remember if he's credited on it or not, but I'm almost certain he was drafted...

Re: The 'Secret' interview with Elvis, 30 years on

Fascinating reading that piece again after so many years. I read it with interest when it first appeared because I was also in the hotel bar when the altercation took place. I was one of the fans who went backstage after the show to chat, get autographs, drink free booze and generally schmooze. I'd ...
