Well, yes. And I'm not surprised. I've been checking the tickets sales regularly and noticed that they were too slow some weeks ago. Out of 5000 tickets, only 200 were sold. A smaller venue was considered, but some guy from Elvis production team said something like "If they don't want us, we do...

Although I enjoyed some books by Garcia Marquez when I was younger - Cien años de soledad is obligatory reading at 16 - many people here got a little bit tired of the Realismo Mágico, which became a cliche actually..that's why I couldn't finish my Isabel Allende book. In the mid nineties we had some...

Am trying to read an Isabel Allende book in the original Spanish, but every time I sit down to read, I end up grabbing Zadie Smith's On Beauty instead. Which, by the way, is excellent, and makes me want to read Howard's End again. Any other Zadie Smith fans? I tried to read Isabel Allende once, and...

Hi, I read this article yesterday on a local paper, and then read SoLikeCandy's post. This is what I think might be the wrong direction... Sorry it's in Spanish but it's not really worth translating First this guy has chosen to portrait Elvis as a rather ungry man and as a proof he has mentioned the...

Well dumb tourist here never heard that use in 5 years of dumbness in Spain, but heard it lots in BA, hence the comment. Well, having lived all my life next to Argentina, having been more than once in Spain, and living for more than two years with a cuban roommate, I insist that bárbaro is Argentin...

to learn Spanish for Chile is not necessarily to learn Spanish for Spain, or vice versa for that matter. Ok, how about 'Chilean Spanish' or 'Argentinian Spanish'... Yes, there are differences, but when deciding if it's Chilean, or Argentinian, or whatever, I'd rather trust the RAE dictionary (Real ...

Buenos Aires is a terrific decision. Is heaven for any literature lover, unbelievable bookstores and really cheap books... although 2000km to the west, only after a 2 hours flight, near the ocean pacific, is even better  And you'll be right on time for the BUE Festival on late October, Elvis i...

I'm working on a project that starts on Nov. 2nd, so if everything works as planned (which I know it won't!!) I'll have to work that weekend... anyway, I have enough time to make up good ex...

Hadn't heard anything here. That BUE Festival is the same SUE Festival here in Santiago, so it's mostly the same artists. Last year Morrissey /PJ Harvey were here, let's just hope...
Anyway, the trip to Buenos Aires it's only a US$ 150 dollars away...

Elvis, Morrissey and Hobnobs

Well, Otis, you might find this interesting... Taken from a recent article in the London Times entitled "Will the Real Elvis Please Standup?" Elvis was being compared to Bowie and Jagger as an English icon and had this to describe the fragility of being an artist today. "Take Morrisse...
