Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Agreed, Harry, those high-register flourishes on bass, so melodic, etc. Reminds me, too, of first hearing such a thing at 15 years old, May 1966, with the Paperback Writer/Rain single

Re: 'Under Lime' piano accidentally quiet?

"And the last time we saw him he was out in the rain Watching the train roll down the track Now he's back in showbiz trying to make a comeback" is this jimmie standing in the rain?! oh yes, of course --my first time through looking at the lyrics, then this "Jimmy is dreaming as she un...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

with these lyrics on Under Lime: "Once every crime was confessed," especially the last three words, it is strange voice he's using that I've not heard before...a Bowie sort of something or other? i find it slightly startling when it arrives. I like the effect. around 3:46 of https://www.yo...

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

Okay, hi. Let's do it: "Gentleman, do talk to you friends - you'll find you are not alone - seek your doctor's advice if you are in doubt or when it is timely and act as swiftly as you may in these matters." To any of my fellow posters who have hesitated over the years regarding being test...

Re: Thoughts on the New York Shows...

From a distance, looking at the set lists etc., it seems that there is nothing much especially new with these shows. Is that true? Seems repetitive to a certain degree. No break-out venturing? Seems still kind-of 'stuck.'? not so jardine. with the volume of long unplayed songs, the eight or so chan...

Re: It's official..."brilliant new album"

MOOT, I love your forensic analysis of the evidence. But part of me expects an unheralded splurge (bad choice of words) of new songs unrelated to other projects. Apart from maybe 'You Shouldn't Look at Me', which I think will be on the new album. That said, do albums even exist anymore? 'You Should...

Re: "Someone Else's Heart" - EC single for Record Store Day?

So, how exactly does this release 'support indie record stores' if it is in a format that many can't play [correction, maybe just me], and there is a limited number? I guess it reminds me that record store day is near, but there are no record stores near.

Re: "Someone Else's Heart" - EC single for Record Store Day?

I sort-of 'get' the vinyl fetish and feel the remorse over the loss of record stores, but these releases simply mean that, after 41 years of listening, songs keep getting released in ways that i can't ever access.

Ahhhhhhh! Might just be rehearsals for the upcoming shows, but that lovely tangled board of wires seems to say otherwise? Certainly makes me understand how much I miss the guy(s).
