ELVIS COSTELLO – Vocals, Electric Guitar, 6 and 12-String Acoustic Guitars & Vibraphone

I'd love to see EC play vibes on the stage. Another Lionel Hampton?

Re: 'Under Lime' piano accidentally quiet?

I think it’s weird hearing Elvis sing the modern day parlance of “he’s woke”. Ha! I thought the same thing until I checked our unofficial lyrics sheet (thanks Nunki/ANCT): http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/index.php/Under_Lime "We know that he's desperate and we know that he's broke" Mak...

Steve's part is buried, no doubt. It cannot be intentional.

Elvis and/or associates, please look into this.

with these lyrics on Under Lime: "Once every crime was confessed," especially the last three words, it is strange voice he's using that I've not heard before...a Bowie sort of something or other? i find it slightly startling when it arrives. I like the effect. around 3:46 of https://www.y...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

EC tweeted criticism at some guy who called Look Now "his first rock album in ten years" and confirmed that the preview tracks are coming Friday. @trackXtrack It has nothing to do with rock... Unless you mean Edinburgh rock Which is delicious. If you’d had a little patience You could have...

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

I think it’s unlikely he would have undertaken a tour within the course of any sort of chemo- if this is a prostrate cancer ( as seems to be implied by the advice to gentleman only) then it’s more likely that the tumour had been completely removed but that the histology has shown exactly what type ...

The intro to Waiting For The End of The World and the intro to Big Tears have a very similar structure. In a good way, of course.

What did he say? (Royal Oak, MI 1978)

The 40 year anniversary celebration has got me reviewing some of the excellent ABC News 20/20 video footage, including this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHR1kOBce8s#t=0m20s During the intro to Radio, Radio, at 0:25, he says "They thought they were gonna stop us. [????] was gonna stop u...

Re: New EC track "I'll Still Love You" on "Johnny Cash: Forever Words"

From that NYT link - A similarly inventive approach guided Elvis Costello in his jazz-inflected reimagining of the poem, “I’ll Still Love You.” “I looked at the lyric and, before I could stifle the thought, the melody appeared in my head,” Mr. Costello wrote in an email. “I left Steve Berkowitz sit...
