Re: Photographer Brian Griffin RIP

That is such a lovely tribute from Steve. I hadn't really been aware of Brian Griffin until a few months ago when I caught this interview https://youtu.be/FKMsrGRl0xw?si=JMtyUKIfn-DlGNVN involving Will Sergeant from Echo and the Bunnymen.

Re: What's your best ever EC gig?

I think my best ever was at the Royal Court, Liverpool 21 Dec 1982 with the TKO Horns. Almost every time I've seen him in Liverpool he's been great (didn't see the Allen Tousaint one)

An honourable mention must go to March 2020 at the Palace Theatre in Manchester days before lockdown. He was on fire.

Re: Costello & Nieve September 2024 UK tour

Ridiculously expensive for Manchester, and £49 of charges on 4 tickets! I would have really liked him to have included a small levy for the Music Venues Trust (https://www.musicvenuetrust.com/) who are campaigning for something similar to the scheme in France where all major live music events are re...

Re: Elvis in British Esquire magazine, Summer 2023

Really good interview and what is more impressive is the list of songs Elvis performed at the Gramercy that runs as a sidebar over the pages of the interview, Well worth seeking out It's taken me a while to get to this (eventually did via my library app Borrowbox) and I concur! First time I've ever...

The Grammy's are a circus for sure and one I don't really care for. However, wishing violence against women, that's not a look I care for at all.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Manchester Opera House, June 11, 2022

Started with Accidents will happen, ended on Farewell OK. Back on form I'd say with a 2 1/2 hour set with no sound problems. Lots of newer stuff, good audience. Some excellent performances - Indoor Fireworks, Big Stars, The Comedians, Mr Crescent, Tipsy Girl amongst them. Davey on double bass really...

:( Well, Elvis's statement on Facebook doesn't quite tally with your experience*. However, I'm glad you enjoyed the gig, though hope tonight in Manchester is better :D My friend was upstairs. He thought the sound was spot on for Ian Prowse and was very surprised when it all went badly for Elvis. He ...

I shall be going with Mrs Worth. It's a mad weekend for music in Manchester, if you are going I suggest travelling a bit earlier than you might ordinarily. I guess there are still tickets for Elvis left either because there are no hotel rooms left and/or people (weirdly) prefer to go to see either E...

I agree Mr Crescent is a great track.
There's an added thing for me that rarely occurs with an LP in that it makes me want to listen to the whole album again.

Re: My Darling Clementine working with Steve Nieve on an album of EC covers , 2020

Assuming England's lockdown is relaxed My Darling Clementine will be doing a socially distanced and streamed gig on Friday 11 December 2020 from The Met, a cracking little venue near me in Bury. Streaming tix £9.00 https://themet.org.uk/event/my-darling-clementine-2020/ for details. From the MDC web...

After the range of 'the singles' ahead of this I was apprehensive, wondering if it would be a half-cooked, tins at the back of the lockdown store cupboard affair that I'd end up buying only because I'm a fan. But no, from the moment I ventured into Fopp Records in Manchester to make my purchase whe...

If you do a search on forward.com for Rogovoy's articles you see that his shtick is "The Secret Jewish History of..." Buster Keaton, James Bond, Ringo Starr etc.

I share the disquiet of others of EC championing Spotify, but I'll just have to get over myself I suppose. I've got the 'free' Spotify - I've had it for ages but rarely use it. It's shuffling the tracks and adding others :( The David Byrne book is all very good, not just the chapter on the tiny amou...
