Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Eventim Olympia, Liverpool, February 28, 2020

Ah, restricted views, the bane of my life! Once upon a time I would have been able to wave to you from the opposite Row B behind the camera position. These not 3 o'clock on Saturday days I'm an irregular visitor, second to back row of the Lower Bullens last time, ball could be going into orbit for a...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Eventim Olympia, Liverpool, February 28, 2020

Knotty Ash is in the West Derby area of Liverpool and the Olympia is on West Derby Rd! Eh? All that sitting up in the nosebleeds watching subbuteo men has confused your geography!* Unless you're going to get all historical and say Knotty Ash is in the West Derby Hundred (see wikipedia for more deta...

Jeez, £10.10 PER TICKET service charges and facility fees is taking the piss more than a reissue with a previously unreleased bonus track.

Of course I've paid it :|

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Not everyone had a bad Amazon experience. My copy turned up right on time Friday as promised. First impressions? More Painted From Memory than Imperial Bedroom, but thankfully not exactly like either (they are two of my favourites, but we never want same again from our man, do we?). At times, it fe...

Re: Elvis Costello cancels tour after surgery to remove 'aggressive' tumour

The S*N tweeted an article to which Elvis replied "Typical “S*N” laziness. People who can’t write for people who can’t think. Don’t need your sympathy. Tell that to the 96 @elviscostello" I presume Elvis's issue is that said rag has headlined the story in a way that suggests Elvis is 'bat...

Re: Elvis and The Imposters plays Manchester Castlefields, July 6 2018

Not wanting to get to ahead of things, but I hope there is a contingency plan should a clash with an important football match arise. Are England due to play anyone that night f they get that far? I am sure I cant be the only one who watched Elvis play with the Sugarcanes in Hyde Park at the same ti...

Re: Elvis plays Manchester Castlefields 2018

I've seen a few things at the Castlefield Bowl and I think it's not a bad outdoor venue and doesn't feel like it has an 8,000 capacity. Sound has been good, easy to see the stage, plenty of good food and drink places nearby.

No comfy seats though!

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Liverpool , July 11 2016

Well that was rather wonderful. I was slightly worried that it might end up as a 'Detour with band' night, but no, definitely no. [Don't get me wrong I loved the Detour shows] Sound was a bit echoey from where I was to start but hit the spot from 'Flutter and Wow' onward - in fact a lot of the eveni...

I only know as I've got Live from the Artists Den on series record, though the "series" is pretty sporadic. What I saw was good, but the bloody YouView box only managed to record half of it :(

What are Elvis's favourite venues?

My Elvis watching over the years has usually been when he plays Liverpool or Manchester. I was at the recent (Manchester) Bridgewater Hall gig, somewhere he has played some excellent gigs before (though I must admit the John Harle in 1996 one was er, difficult!). I think one of the factors in him pl...

Re: Elvis solo, Manchester (England), July 14, 2014

Wonderful, marvellous, "The Ken Dodd of Manchester" someone said behind me (which was in the direction of Bradwellboy - good call on 3 Sons by the way) as he started yet another song. It felt like it could go on forever with great surprises (Dr Luther's Assistant I KNOW!!). That big yellow...
