Re: My Aim Is True Survivor (Round 12)

I'm one of those who voted Alison out. My choices as the rounds have progressed have been increasingly decided by asking myself 'Is the MAIT version better than the song is usually when played live?' Songs such as Alison, great as it is on the LP, have generally been superior live -incrementally pol...

Re: My Aim Is True Survivor (Round 2)

Are we agreed that Detectives should be included in this? It certainly alters the feeling of the album compared to the “original” Stiff issue in August 1977 ! If this was a 'Vote for your favourite' type of poll comp I'd agree wholeheartedly. However, in this 'least favourite' scenario (which maybe...

Ah! I thought you might torture us with King of America next!
This should be relatively straightforward until about Round 6 or 7 - then it's circles of hell I fear!

Re: Get Happy!! Survivor - Round 6

B-Movie is out! I swear you get a kick out of this, Kosi! Okay, I attempted to assassinate 'Temptation' once again. People either love that song inordinately or are tactically voting to thwart me at every turn! 'Temptation' is the fingernail on my left pinkie! Can't believe 'Motel Matches' is still...

The lying. Going to Tory donors like Dyson to make ventilators when actual ventilator makers were ignored. <snip> Luckily we still have the NHS, but the Tories have been chipping away at it for years. To see them clapping the nurses has been disgusting - they cheered when nurses' pay was capped bac...

Two and an half hours, set much the same as other nights. Voice ropey for the first few songs before a sip of the magic juice and got into gear on Tokyo Storm Warning. Many highlights, but Detectives was sublime! American without Tears, Whisper to a scream, all the Get Happy track and PL&U all f...

Ah, restricted views, the bane of my life! Once upon a time I would have been able to wave to you from the opposite Row B behind the camera position. These not 3 o'clock on Saturday days I'm an irregular visitor, second to back row of the Lower Bullens last time, ball could be going into orbit for a...

Knotty Ash is in the West Derby area of Liverpool and the Olympia is on West Derby Rd! Eh? All that sitting up in the nosebleeds watching subbuteo men has confused your geography!* Unless you're going to get all historical and say Knotty Ash is in the West Derby Hundred (see wikipedia for more deta...

Jeez, £10.10 PER TICKET service charges and facility fees is taking the piss more than a reissue with a previously unreleased bonus track.

Not everyone had a bad Amazon experience. My copy turned up right on time Friday as promised. First impressions? More Painted From Memory than Imperial Bedroom, but thankfully not exactly like either (they are two of my favourites, but we never want same again from our man, do we?). At times, it fe...
